I am not posting this for any reaction, merely to state my current situation and to see if anybody else is the same.
Firstly, I am completely loyal to fender, when it came to getting a new guitar and I had a choice of gibsons, i bought a fender.
I have always loved that strat tone but as of late I am so bored of it. Seriously, half of my iTunes library are strat uses and its starting to grind on me because I am hearing that tone so much. The worst part for me is, I can't play a strat without sounding like a replica of another artist.
Sure the strat has a really nice blues tone, especially texas style but I think it would be better if people switched up a bit.
So right now I am listening to some nice Gibson users like Gary Moore, Joe Bonamassa, Derek Trucks and more. Just until I have got through my period of temporary dislike for the single coil sound. Plus, that creamy les paul sound is rather appealing ;)

Yep. Joe gets such a great tone on his LP. Like on this number, for example:

Wait! That's not a Les Paul...!

Seriously: s'all right, man. All guitars are cool. Play whatever. Just play!

I feel somewhat the same way about Stratocasters.

I can appreciate where you're coming from. It's like if someone's absolute favorite food was say, pizza. If said person ate nothing but pizza for breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks for a prolonged period of time, well, a nice steak or hamburger would be awfully appealing sooner or later over that favorite food.

Speaking for myself though, I personally have a LONG, LONG way to go before I've had enough pizza (Stratocasters).

Isn't "spice" the plural of "spouse?" That's what I heard, anyway. Heh heh.

Easy answer to this.

Stop filling your ears full of guitar players. Spend some time listening to violin music or something and give your guitar a rest, have a few days or weeks off. Flutes, xylophones, trumpets, their all good and when you come back to your guitar you'll enjoy trying to sound like them and broaden your repitoire.

Hello Mayercaster,

In the last 30 some years I've never
been without at least 1 Stratocaster.
I can't say that about any other model
or manufacture.

There's nothing like a Stratocaster{for me}. 8)
Tone----Looks-----Playability.

Cheers.

+1 Change it up a bit. Play another guitar for a few weeks, or listen to a kind of music you've never given much thought to before (unless it's rap, there's a good reason why "crap" rhymes with it lol).

I bought my Strat last year because I was looking for that tone. I played a Tele for over 30 years and wanted something different. (As much as I love that guitar...)

Considering that Gibson lowered the price of an SG Std down from $1699 to 1299 just recently, this might be a good addition for you. Notice that I said "addition" and not "replacement"...

If the SG is out of your price range try a Melody Maker. Another fine guitar from Gibson at half the cost.
