Hey, I have a MIM strat HSS, and I want to get the tremolo bar for it because at guitar center, they don't come with the tremolo bar on. So my question is, when I buy it, should I install it myself, or should I have a guitar technician (or whatever you call them) put in?

And if I put it in myself, what exactly do I do? does it just6 screw or slide in?

Thanks

IMO installing a bridge is pretty straight forward but if you don't feel confident enough to do it yourself then take it to a pro. It'll cost more but it's worth it.

The tremelo bar screws or clicks in, no rocket science.
Should come with the guitar, but unscrewed.
Maybe in the gig-bag or in the case.
One advice is; don't overscrew it in because you can damage the thread.

Hope this will help you.

It should have come with the guitar. and if it didnt and you need to buy one you just need to screw it in. It is really simple. And you will have to take it off any time you put your guitar back in the case. Good Luck. Try going back to Guitar Center and telling them that it didnt come with it I think it should have come with the guitar.

At my guitar center, they don't include the tremolo arm with the mexican strats :(

But they're only $11 bucks so it wont but a huge dent in my wallet.

Ok, thanks, I just wanted to make sure it wasn't anything complex that involved screwing and unscrewing things

You mean they charge you extra for a tremolo arm??? That's just wrong. A guitar is suppose to come with that thing. Sounds like something they came up with to make more money. Seems like Fender should get behind this and put a stop to it, or at least somebody.

sweetness, Guitar Center gave me the tremolo arm. The first time I called them a couple months ago, the guy I talked to was really rude and said that it was not supposed to come with it, but I figured that I would call again today, and the guy said yah, its supposed to come with it so I went in and picked it up :)

Yeah, when I bought my CyberTwin at GC (yuck) they neglected to include the one button footswitch. When I went back for it they treated me like I was trying to scam a free switch off them. After a talk to the manager, threats of letters to Fender that wouldn't stop till I got my footswitch, they finally gave me my switch. I'll never shop there again.

So how do I know when to stop twisting it in? when I start to feel lots of tension? before that?

THanks

It's all preference, but for me....I leave mine a little loose so it swings out of the way when I'm not using it.
