How come it always seems like someone has something bad to say about Jimmy Page and Led Zeppelin even "fans"

I would say it's a combination of blatant jealousy and blatant frustration for Led Zeppelin not reuniting.

Bad or good at least everyone knows who they are and what they did. It is probably hard to appreciate them if you were born after the 80's.

There was another post this morning on why no one shreds anymore. You might want to check that out. There are a lot of opinions on what made the music of the 70's and why people stopped shredding in the 80's and 90's.

Like everything you have to decide for yourself what is important. Everyone is entitled to their opinion which works best for them.

Not from me! I have nothing bad to say about Led Zeppelin. I seen them live two times and they where out of this World. Also people if you like vinyl order the new 4 Lp set from there web site.

I'm a fan - to answer the "favorite guitarist" questions my answer is still "Jimmy Page". I understand that he doesn't have the precision or clean tones or raw speed of some of the players more commonly cited on those threads, but I love his bluesiness and the raw sound of his playing. Don't know if it has to do with him being more associated with Les Pauls as well? Another favorite of mine is Jack White who is even sloppier and less virtuosic.

Get a few albums and you'll quickly notice that half their material isn't more than mediocre
Otherwise, expand you musical library, cuz you don't know enough bands
Some truly great songs, but seems like a lot was made just for the sake of completing an album or recording session

That's my 2 cents, guess it was bad

Maybe JP should get back with his remaining Band Mates and record some new Music. They can do it and I for one think it's overdue!

I agree and was not speaking for myself at all. Frankly, I could care less whether they reunite or not. I've seen them live a few times and believe me, not only is he one sloppy player, but his guitar was always out of tune and he was always in and out of time. He always had a face on like he was sucking lemons or something too. You could clearly see in his playing though, he was attempting a lot of Jeff Beck riffs but just couldn't do it.

Never been a big fan of Zepplin. A few good songs but overall never lived up to the hype.

If you sit down and closely watch 'The Song Remains The Same' (with a quality HT sound setup), you get a pretty good glimpse into how brilliant Jimmy Page was. This was Led Zeppelin - in my opinion - at their peak. After many years, the entire band's live sound (especially Page) was finally honed. This was when they had evolved from being a raucous blues-rock outfit to being the ultimate rock and roll machine -- streamlined and firing hard on all cylinders. This was before all the drugs, when Page had speed to burn, and basically formed the modern "guitar hero" prototype. Further, when you really appreciate its 1973 context and their contemporaries, it is even more amazing.

1973 was Jimmy Page on top of his game. His many years of "work in progress" with Dazed and Confused was finally completed. His ability to play endless eloquent and fluid guitar solos - in my opinion - has never been matched. And these are solos on top of some of the most formidible rock songs ever written. Regardless of a few missed notes here and there, Jimmy Page showed himself as the ultimate guitar hero, attached to a prolific musical vision.

I think everyone should own the 2 disc LED ZEPPELIN DVD,as it has so much killer live footage of a rock and roll machine, for those who dont know the band that well stop listening to all the worn out famous tracks and check out gems like,TEN YEARS GONE,ACHILLES LAST STAND,THE OCEAN AND so many more, the beautiful open tuning of THE RAIN SONG,some of the greatest blues licks you will ever find SINCE IVE BEEN LOVING YOU this band had it all.I think this thing with Page being sloppy got a lttle out of hand I think Page played his guitar so low it had to hinder him theres no doubt about it.Check him out when he is seated which there is a ton of footage he is always on the mark and there were no pro tools in those days.I mean the guy was brilliant in the studio the way he miked the drums was ground breaking,he used weird open tunings way before anyone I can remember, wrote more killer riffs in ten years than bands who have been around 25-30.Love them or not their greatness cannot be denied. And the funny thing is I am not sure if they ever even had a top ten hit.For those who dont know STAIRWAY TO HEAVEN WAS NEVER A SINGLE.
