I must say how amusing i'm finding some of the views regarding long drawn out guitar solo's in this discussion.

So, I put it to you, that those guitarists here who have issues with indulgent guitar solo's, have never developed the skill required to perform soloing to a professional standard.

Those professional, 'working' guitarists here that DO possess that hard earned ability to carry off a solo for more than 2 mins AND have 99% of the audience yelling for more, know the rewards that go with pulling off such a performance.

Basically, in my humble opinion, those who $@!&* about long guitar solos...... Go and find yourselves a box of tissues and a copy of Bad Moon Rising. Slap your three chords together, lock yourselves in your bedrooms and let us REAL guitarists do the hard work for you.

Oh, brother.

You couldn't be more wrong.

Indulgent solo's maybe a thing of the past but ego maniacal lead guitarists shall live on forever. :)

all i know is, anyone who doesn't experience feelings of peace and ease when listening to Allman Bros - Blue Sky must have something seriously wrong with them. if your stresses don't melt away, or you don't get goosebumps while listening to that song, you're not human...musician or not
