It does not matter to me MIA or MIM. I do not even care about Fender vs Squire. If a guitar plays good and sounds good, then I will buy it, if I am looking for a guitar.

I tell you what...If David Gilmour, Jeff Beck, or some other Fender player decided to only use MIM Standards or Squire brands, I bet my bottom dollar that everyone would be on the same boat within a few years.

You people need to understand that a brand name alone is not going to make you sound better. It is the skill of the player, amplifier/effects, and the modifications they do that makes you sound like a good player. You tweak and mod your guitar to suit your needs. There is not a player out there that has a pure stock Fender guitar that they play. There is always some modification that they do to it whether it is different strings than in the specs, pick-ups, Trems, Saddles, Blocks, Nuts, Tunners, Necks, Pots, or wiring.

In this same line of thinking you cannot go out and buy some RJ Reynolds Strat clone and expect it to sound like a rock god out of the box. You do get what you pay for. American Standard players do not need to modify their guitars as much as a MIM Standard owner.

Let the people that cannot afford American Standards play Fenders too. Quit busting the chops of those of us that are not so fortunate to be able to afford that $1500 chunck of dough that others can afford. Some of us need to start off low and work up.

most fender strat players today pro and none pro
dont realy care if there strat is a MIM STRAT
for the simple reason that the past 3 years the
woods/craftmanship on the MIM strat has made
a major change in that area. i own a 2006 MIM STD.
3 piece alder body/maple neck with jumbo fretts
no ruff edges and the neck is very smooth. i did
some modds changed pick ups/bridge hard tail/pick gaurd.
and now it would match to any MIA prodution strat.
AND THE MIK AND CIJ'S are also just as good. so
the days were the strat had to be made in the USA
to get quality craftmanship is over has been for 3 to 4 years now.
