Thats the question i need help with, i';m buying a guitar next day or so

and the choice is a Telecaster, but what i need to know is do i get the Fender MiM or the MiJ Squire, issues are $200.00 between them, i like the look of the Classic Vibe, i'm getting color white and the Squire comes with off white and black, Standard is bright white on white, oh and the Standard comes with Gig bag whopeeee! so i'll need a case anyway.

this will be just a 2nd quitar, my main is a AM Strat Lone Star-Hot Rodded,

any thoughts would be very much appreciated
cheers

The Classic Vibe's are really nice for the price. I'd go that route.

when it comes time to sell or upgrade, will anyone care about the value of the squire, thats what im thinking?

Dude even with the Fender name on the headstock it will still say "Made in Mexico". My point is, to many of us out there if it's not MIA it's not truly a Fender guitar regardless of the sticker on the headstock.

The Classic Vibe series of instruments is really nice, regardless of the decal.

First - check your local craigslist! I managed to get a beautiful 1 year old MIM strat for $200 in barely played condition. I haven't seen a Classic Vibe on there yet, however.

If you're looking to resale it in the future, the MIM will get you a little more than the Squire Classic Vibe..but of course you pay the $200 difference up front.

This is more of an issue of - what guitar feels right to you? Sit down, play both UNPLUGGED (check for resonance, buzzing (especially in upper frets, which could mean a warped neck), if the frets are coming out, etc etc)..and THEN plug it in and check the electronics.

But..check craigslist.

The CV has those cool vintage tuners. 8)

Pups can always be swapped out, but I had a jammer show up with one and he played through a Fender DRRI and it sounded fine.

Classic vibe, classic vibe, Classic vibe!!!

I got one and in the last month its been almost exclusively used in favor of my Am Dlx strat! Its just soo much fun, it feels fun, its just great!

I see a lot of folk here saying "the CV is great for the price". thats a half truth. The real statement is that the CV is of excellent quality regardless of price.

Its a pity the name squier is associated with budget guitars in this particular case, and also its a pitty that people think you have to pay to get something awesome. The CV is not just good for the money, its good for 2-3 times the money. I played a load of MIM's, and a few Am std models and the CV feels better, sounds better, plugged in and unplugged. Its the guitar and its quality that make it great, the price is just the cherry on top, but not what makes this a bargin at all.

I posted a review and images in the squier section of the forum, maby that will help you with your decision.

Classic Vibe all the way man. I just can't say enough good things about the Classic Vibe series. They did their homework on these and got 'em right regardless of the price.

Play both. Pick the one you like. When I bought my Classic Vibe, I was actually looking for my 2nd Fender. I was looking at the Fender Standards (MIM). After playing a lot of them, I just couldn't buy one. I got spoiled with my HWY 1. I looked at the Squire CV. I had owned Squire guitars before so the "stigma" does not bother me. (Shame on you that it does.) This guitar is right on target as being a great 2nd guitar to my Fender HWY 1.

If I was starting off playing today, I would want to learn on a guitar like the Squire Classic Vibe over a Fender Standard (MIM). Better quality, playability, tone, and the price is a lot better.

Of course if you want an awesome guitar, you can save 999-1500 dollars and just get either a Fender HWY 1, an American Standard, or an American Deluxe and get it over with.
