I'm after a wireless system preferably with guitar out and monitor in ear.

Anyone here advise me on a good product? I've next to no experience with wireless rigs but have decided its the way forward for now.

I've used an AKG and Shure system in the past, but found that I got too many dropouts. I don't recall anything with an onboard in ear monitor, but these days I'm not up on what's new in the market on these things.

Yeah its just me Mike i expect too much from the industry i suppose. What i really wanted was full band monitoring in ear and out to my guitar only. Why havent they developed that? Who wants to be wearing a belt full of receivers n stuff when their trying to rock?

It could very well be out there. Have you checked in Sweetwater's products?

Nothing useful to contribute I'm afraid. But I'm just curious about people's experience of in-ear monitoring on stage, compared to traditional wedges. Much better? Disadvantages?

Way after my era - so share your experience with an old timer, folks!

I've had to deal with both. Wedges are good if you just want an all out loud experience playing but in Ear are amazing for focusing exactly what parts of the band you want to hear, it also cancels out other noise, Crowd etc. It's fantastic and it won't make you deaf. If you need crowd noise add a mic onstage facing the crowd and have the noise mixed in with your feed.

I think In ears are amazing.

Yeah i like the look of in ear too. Were really quiet onstage with all the noise happening front of house. My goal is to have everything bar guitars, mic's and drums offstage. What i have found is that scn's tend to feedback with the mids up. So keeping all speakers off stage should help a bit. Anyhow my inital idea of a transmitter and receiver all in one hasnt been developed yet. Looks like its a case of buy both types. Is it samson that is owned by FMIC, their bug looks good.

CV the other guitarist uses Nady, he loves it.

We use the Aviom monitoring system at the church where I play and I'm using Shure SCL4 ear buds. I really like the in ear monitoring and it is the best way to please just about everyone. I have control over who and what I want in my mix as well as their levels. I like to have the ambient sounds of the auditorium so I only use one earbud, the side the drummer's on  . As far as the original post, I don't use a wireless personally but we do use Shure wireless mics. We had a reception issue with another guitarist's Sennheiser system that cleared up when he switched to a Shure UHF system.

I got a ashton awm200 wireless transmitter i could check it out in the local shop and A/B it to my lead with my guitar and amp. Also we had a couple of cellphones dialing out and generally tried to get interference. It didnt pick any up. :D The tone change is quite nice too, instead of a dulled down compressed sound that i've heard on past systems it gave a slightly better treble response. The word brilliant comes to mind as a tonal description, very much like plugging a £5 lead in then switching over to a £50 evidence cable.

Gonna have a look at their in ear monitors next.

It has been a few years since I have used anything wireless so I don't really have anything to suggest except: Don't use rechargeable batteries, they don't last as long.
