Hello all, i am back! My b-day is coming soon (in a month), and i know for sure that I'm getting another amp, and maybe a guitar. The super champ and vibro champ seem like good buys, both at my local shop. I played the super champ at my local music store and i adored it. It had a nice, tube-y tone, but of course not quite that of the deluxe which i also happened to play (what an amp!). I played the vibro champ also, but that was a long time ago, so much that i don't remember what exactly it sounded like, though I remember having a good first impression of it. So my final question is...

which one?

BTW i'll be playing through a Strat (Squire OR Mexican), and if you want to know what style of music i play, just look at my forum name.

Peace :)

What situation are you going to use it for. For stage the superchamp is plenty loud enough, for home the vibrochamp is nearly too much.

I do not perform or if i would it's not anytime soon, so in that case i am presuming you like neither. Which amp then?

No i love my vibrochamp xd. My blues jr is a coffee table at the bands rehearsal room since i got it. Its great. Small enough to transport easily loud enough to rehearse with. I'm taking it for its first gig saturday, ok we do have a great PA and set of monitors and a dedicated sound engineer. It will get the sound i want with a minimum of fuss. Its easy to get quiet around the house but can be too loud for home when turned up. It operates very quietly too, next to no background buzz without a lead plugged in. It could benefit from a better speaker but the one it has is perfectly serviceable, I see no need to change it yet.

One thing judging by your username it may not give the sounds you want. Its marshall settings arent its best sounds. Its entirely down to you though what sound you want. Play it if you like it I'd get it. I did. You may get a better rehearsal sound from the bigger speaker'd superchamp.

For a home amp that has many good low to mid gain tones good effects (the reverb is to die for) its a bargain at £180. Infact i've had reverb effects that cost more than the amp and didnt sound as good. Think carefully about what you need before choosing is all I'm saying. Do you really need 15watts when 5watts will do great at home? Will it give the sounds you want? Pay close attention to that one. The amps give out some great sounds, if their not close to the one you ultimately want to get though you'll never be happy.

It's all about the Super Champ. Sounds great, looks great. Honestly, you wouldn't go wrong with either. Play both and see which one you like best.

+1

I have a SCXD - love it - I only play in the house or on my porch. It's more than enough for me - and I can keep it low at night.

I'm sort of at the same point. It's just for playing at home, but quite a few different styles from folk to rock to blues to surf (on my strat). I "think" I like the sound of a bit bigger speaker than the 8" Vibrochamp, ('cause I'm playing with a G-dec junior and I find the sound lacks depth.) I'm hoping for a little fatter sound with a 10" speaker, but the Superchamp has too much power for me to use effectively. Bigger speaker in the Vibrochamp?? Comments??

I'm another SCXD user (and I have an ancient - circa 1983 - Champ to go with it) and it's perfect at home. You should be able to get a good Hendrix sound out of it, considering the constraint that you're at home.

I think it has a decent set of sound options and for my purposes, a good clean channel.

I checked one out today--I may get one later on for home as well--I could come out of my stereo echo--one output into the Vibro Champ--and theother into my G-Dec Jr--

I like that.

Thats why i do for recording. marshall tremolo splitting the signal into 2 old tokai delays set at different intervals of delay. One into the vibrochamp one into the lead input my watkins. I then feed the line out of the vibrochamp into the rhythm input of the watkins too.

I chose the VCXD simply because I didn't need two channels or the extra watts. As another poster stated, you really couldn't go wrong with either amp.
