Hey if you have something to play for the time being just take what you would be able to spend on a new guitar and add to it a lil at a time .Bottom line save for it, time goes by fast and it will be worth it rather than settling for something you really dont want.

Regulars will get sick of this advice but here it is, anyway.

Put away the cost of a pack of cigarettes, EVERY DAY!

In a guitar and amp fund. Cigarettes are almost $11 per pack in the train stations in Chicago.

You could always look for a used one.

Thats true! I found a Telecaster for (Used) 136 dollars. It still worked but needed a new head. and a few strings at total for repairs i'd say 20 to 25 dollars. I would have kept it but I bought it as a present to my uncle. :)

If you already have a guitar, you could wait it out. Gibson lowered the price of the SG... And who on this forum ever thought you'd see that?

Um i don't think Fenders will ever go down i mean when they raised their price point to $349 back in 1999 it stayed there for like 4 years then gradually skyrocketed up. Which is very sad. If you buy a MIM you might as well save for a MIA. Luckily i scored mine for $300 at GC after some Finagling.

Okay if you're already smoking, and want to quit--that might be incentive--but that isn't realistic for many non smokers.

When we all get together, rebell and stop buying Fenders for at least 9 months. I'll bet that does the trick, but can y'all hold out that long?
