I have a squier CV tele and need to raise the action. The music company forgot to include the allen/hex keys to adjust action, neck relif etc. I will be complaining to them but i need to adjust my action in the next few days for my next guitar lesson.

Can anyone advise the correct allen/hex key sizes for the string height screws on the CV tele? im unsure if they are the same size as on other tele's with a 3 saddle bridge but i cant see why they wouldnt be.

metrec is preferable as i live in europe, but if you only know imperial sizes, that will be fine also. thanks all

Hi schmintan: not going to be very helpful I'm afraid. I took the Fender saddles off my Lite Ash Tele and replaced them with an intonated set. Strangely, the Fender one's were imperial but the replacements were metric.

What was more confusing is that the trussrod on that Fender Tele also takes a metric allen key though other bits are imperial. Weird.

I'm afraid you may just have to try one set and if it doesn't work then try the other. In the long run it is always useful to have both imperial and metric sets of keys. The guitar world uses both.

Good luck - C

Thanks Ceri, good advice as always.

I went and got a metric and imperial set of allen keys and a good thing to.
The allen key for the action adjustment screws is imperial 1/16 in size, but the allen key for truss adjustment is metrec of 5mm in size.

Very strange to mix metric and imperial fittings on a guitar i think. I have the allen keys now though so wont need to buy them ever again.

Thanks for the advice.

Very welcome: glad it worked out.

So you've got a guitar with imperial fittings but a metric trussrod too, huh? Mine isn't just a fluke then - very odd, isn't it?

Anyhow: enjoy that CV. Looks like a nice Tele!

Cheers - C

The CV is awesome, its annoying actually, its more fun to play than my Am Dlx strat, which was 5 times the price!

On the topic of imperial and metric fittings all on one guitar, my dad says this is common on some motorbikes where some parts come from the US and others come from Europe/Asia.

In some circles where some cruisers are made in both Asia and the US, the US versions are just called "cruisers" but the Asian versions are called "Metric cruisers"!!!

guess its a similar issue here.
