I love The Doors. I saw Riders on The Storm last year and they rocked too. Ray and Robby still got it, no matter what hack-singer has the mic.

It is a serious slice of the 60's so you either like it or hate it.

I don't think the Doors are over-rated...at times I actually feel they are underrated because it seems like people tend to obsess about Jim Morrison's genius, and forget that the other band members were rather musically innovative and brilliant as well...

+1000 especially robbie. However he deserves that since he took a shine to Gibson SGs instead of Strats

The Doors were one of the most importent bands in history. There is a very dark shading to there music and the most important factor is one just has to listen for a few seconds without ever hearing the song before and will say is that the Doors .They did not sound like anyone else but themselves, and how many singers have copped Jims singing and phrasing.Big Jay I agree with you all the way .But I hate that rag Rolling stone for years they ripped Zep up and only started praising the recently. And one only has to look at there listing of the 100 greatest guitarist in rock to know they are a joke Rhandy Rhoads #85 Vanhalen#70

Alwaysstrat i half agree with you mate. All them bands are very overrated. perhaps not slash, his bending technique is great though not a complete school of playing. However i cant call jim morison a genius by any stretch of the imagination. Drunken hippy spouting bad disjointed near incoherent poetry that attained cult status by dying, is more my view of him. Kreiger was always a little bland. I always thought the keyboard player was the man in the doors. He always seemed to command melody to me.

I personally have always felt that the Beatles are overrated. Yeah, yeah I know - pretty good songwriters (although Lennon kept Harrison's music repressed), and they did forever change the way that music is recorded.

But performance wise - mediocre garage band.

no one reads Rolling stone any more.
they have no credability havent for years.
some years back Guitar World and Guitar player
international rank eddie van halen and jimi hendrix
the two most influental guitarist of alltime. no one
with any sence would pay any attention to Rolling Mag.

I wonder about some of these list when they come out to. But I have to admit Rolling Stone has a ciculation of almost 1.5 million and magzines like Guitar Player 08' ciculation was just over 132,000 and Guitar World is almost defunct so though many may not agree with Rolling Stone and I'm am one of them many times but they do have some influence on the industry.
