while they're certainly not my favorite band, and I don't listen to them on a regular basis, i don't think they suck at all. they're pretty tight, guitars sound decent, drummer's not bad, they write songs that a ton of people like and they do it well.

i like a few songs they do. do i think they're amazing and have the ultimate guitar chops? nope. but they do what they do well, and they're pretty successful at it.

funny thing is, i have other musician friends that hate them for whatever reason. cant' stand anything they do. if i play some riff or verse by nickelback, the guys will go "hey that's pretty cool, i like that a lot. is that yours?". "no, it's part of a nickelback song". "oh, well in that case, i hate it".

ok, what changed? what made something that you really loved a second ago, suddenly sound horrible to your ears? :)

All their songs sound the same to me, can only take so much of his singing. They are not one of my favs, but they are popular.

What does the "Canadian thing" supposed to mean

Regards.

Nickleback is one of the bands I hate the most. From what I've heard, their stuff is just so uncreative and they don't try to push the envelope to make something challenging or mildly interesting b/c uncreative is what makes money these days. The sad part is, they are actually hugely popular while bands that are doing something interesting with legitimate musical talent are in the background.

I hope I don't offend anyone by saying this, but part of the reason why I think Nickelback is so popular is because they are huge in trailer parks...or at least the ones around here seem to go apesh*t over them. That song about the pants around the feet always brings out the classiest women onto the dance floor around these parts in the 540 area code of Virginia...

I'm not sure they suck so much, as that they excel at being bland.

I used to be a ring announcer for several independent pro wrestling organizations in middle Tennessee from 1997-99, so even though you don't get that detailed, I probably know a lot of the details

I mean is it Chad Kroeger looks like a cocker spaniel?

Does the Canadian thing play into it?

Is it cause his voice sounds like he really needs help on the toilet?

I don't understand how a band that blows that hard has a record contract.

And is it just strip club DJ's buying their records? Cause i gotta tell you i would be really disappointed in someone if they actively sought to purchase a song called "Something in your mouth".

Not to mention they have managed to rhyme the word "Sorry" with "Story" by stretching the vowels to say "SOARREE"

I'm puzzled. I actually get angry when i hear them on the radio. I'd rather listen to my nieces Hannah Montana CD on continuous loop.

Am i overreacting? I just think that it's an injustice for them to be allowed to continue further.

I have wondered the same! My mother is a big Nickelback fan, and I fail to see why. She goes on with her music and calls what I listen to (SRV, Megadeth, Motorhead, etc.) garbage because it sounds like "static" or its "too old sounding."

Well for what its worth they have one song I really like not even sure of the name .The one that goes ARE WE HAVING FUN YET,That is the only song of theres I like but I really liked it.The thing is most acts today have 2 or 3 quality songs on an album and the rest is filler.I cant even remember the last album I bought by someone new.I took a chance on a dvd by Keith Urban I never heard a note by him but it got great reviews in a couple of guitar mags and have to say I got my moneys worth. The guy can sure as hell play and I liked the songs ans I am not even a country fan but sometimes you have to go outside the box.I just bought Jeff Beck at Ronnie Scotts just brilliant. There is this piece on youtube of Beck and Clapton doing BECAUSE WE ENDED AS LOVERS from the second crossroads dvd that got edited.I was interested as to how clapton would aproach this well it is $@! kicking Clapton steps up to the plate like I have not heard in 20 years .Why this was edited from the dvd I have no idea, ans I was mad because they took down the video and just have still pictures but check it out it is a must listen. But whatch out there are 2 versions one from the 80s thats 3 minuetes and clapton just plays rhythm and the crossroads edit that is 6 minuetes thats the one to hear .

Nickleback is IMO, one of the worse bands besides Nirvana to come along and yet, get millions of brainwashed people, to buy their CD'S which are forcefed down their throats by a uncaring, greedy, capitalistic, bunch of CEO'S who unfortunately really don't have a clue what the music business should be about. As far as I'm concerned, Rock N' Roll died a long time ago since the beginning of grunge and only is available through classic rock stations and CD complilations.

+1 but I wouldn't say Nirvana as a loser and compare them to Nickelback.
Thats like puttin' Your favorite shirt next to crap and then comparing  .
At the time Nirvana had a more influencial way of people in the 90's. And for the time Grunge was a big thing. But even puttin' Nickelback with Nirvana is UTTER Bullsh**. And I would rather listen to Nirvana (By a long shot) Than listen to Rap or Nickelback. Don't you agree?
