Women and groups don't mix, you have to learn the knack of compromise.

Its a drag when your forced to choose between someone you love and something you need to do for self improvement and self esteem as a player .It sounds like a control issue on her part .And she may be trying to establish an expectation that nothing in your life is as important as her needs.
I cant give you any advice except life is fleeting and if you dont take advantage of what it has to offer you can only blame yourself .
It is also my observation that guitar players never have a shortage of girlfriends its gigs that are hard to find.
Good Luck

Wont tuesday do for practice, just once.
Its your anniversary mate.
I love my guitars but would happily burn them all to keep the missus.

Here's the best advice you'll ever get:

When you think you and your girlfriend are having a problem or have reached an impassé, talk to her instead of a bunch of strangers on the internet.

Ennit just.

Really dont let some band encroach on your personal life. I'm glad i regret leaving bands to save relationships rather than regretting being in a band and sacrificing a relationship.

Listen to this man. An anniversary is a pretty important milestone, especially to a girlfriend/wife. Try reschedule your practice, for one week.

Agreed, 1000%!

And when you DO talk to her, do NOT mention ANYTHING about having communicated your concerns to anyone else, period!!

Well, you bring an interesting problem to the forum. First, no one has asked, but what anniversary is it? I mean if it's three months, than she had better understand that the gig is important. Second, Are you a professional musician or is it a hobby? Third, It's easier for you to re schedule one person than it is a band. There must be a reason you have all decided that Monday's are best for everyone. You may have to sit down, talk with her and explain that you will make it up to her by either going out on Sunday or Tuesday. If you go out Sunday (if neither of you are working) Y9 can spend the whole day and make it a day trip to a special place that she would love to go. I am not saying to sacrafice a relationship or a band, but the bottom line is that a lot of women and guitars never seem to go together. Better to both realize this now and work it out. she has to understand that there will be times when you need to do things. There are also times when you have to be there for her. That is what relationships are all about, the art of compromise! Good Lukc and let us know what happened.

Gratz, well said as usual and I agree.

By saying you have to cancel your rehearsal, she is putting her "requirements from you" ahead of your music. I would also invite her to rehearsal, but if she insists on you cancelling, I would start to look for a new girlfriend that is not so domineering.
