Oh, man... don't go using the scary "L" word now... It's just a buzz word that the right wing uses because they can't use the word communisim to scare people with anymore... Let's stick to Fender stuff, shall we?

Anyways...

I was in Sam Ash today, because I finally paid off the Deluxe Player Strat I bought last year. Now that my card is cleared... I may get another guitar. I was looking around and I noticed that there was one guitar that actually had a price drop of $200.00. It was the Faded Special SG. It went from $899 to $699.

I may go tomorrow to check it out before they're gone. I already have the Strat and a Tele that my Dad bought me back when you didn't have to be concerned about where it was made.

I know that there are many people on this site that also have Gibsons. Not that one is better than the other. Strats, Teles, LP's and SG's are pretty much the classic guitar shapes. I just love guitars... and the music played on Fenders and Gibsons were what I grew up on.

And yes... they are expensive now. My Tele cost my Dad $245 in 1970, new with a case. I still have it and it plays great. I think that I got my money's worth.

But, I'm just rambling now... Anyone else want to take over now?

Does this mean people can't respond to your argument? That's not very free of you. And why can't the "right wing" as you call them use the word communism anymore? :?

Prices go up all the time. It's the way the huge monolithic corporations keep paying those big buck salaries and "fat cat" dividends. That's why all musical instrument companies started going off shore for their production. Cheaper labor means they can sell the end product at a lower price.

if you're really strapped for cash, pick up one made so far out in the boondocks that they won't even put their name on the headstock.

That is the reason why Fender gutiars are getting more expensive like everything else.

You're in Iceland.. :?

Yes I know but we got something over here called news and are very well informed on what is happening in the world :) . Plus we got somthing called internet.

Don't count on the news to keep you informed  And you have to watch what you learn from the internet, look at the source. Good way to learn are Congressional bulletin's. Wall Street Journal , Mensa Forum, Hoovers reports. ect.ect. but not the News  When you see it in the news thats a good start to just go to the next level of study because most new source today are very bias one way or the other and as many will say they are leaning much more it one direction.

Politics today is as always. popularity helps. but much more today then ever before proof being we just elected a President who has less experience then any we have ever had in history at one of the worst times we have had. Popularity did that, John Mccain had more expererice but who liked him? He could not even win his own parties nomination two times before. There was no way with him getting it the third try around it was going to result in a national election win. And that was known by many. Some just guessed that Hilliary would be running and that her unpopularity may be enoungh that he had a slime chance of a win. I disliked all three of those canidates but I will say the least experience of the three won because of his popularity.
Economic policy takes years to show true effects when did the drain open? What years? The bank reform Bill of the 90's and the recall of the 1933 Glass Steagall Act was the plug being pulled

Unlax :!: :!: .......50 years ago your choice of Stratocaster was right handed, left handed, and hardtail, in a limited number of finishes which, in today's market, as posted elsewhere, would have cost you over 2K. Now you can find a strat from the high two figures to the high fives, and several dozen finishes among other things.

Humm... First off, the thread was posted by someone who was upset over the price jump. When, you consider the current economy it doesn't make sense... but business is business. Secondly... I made a comment... not an argument. Thirdly, the right can't use the word to scare people anymore because it doesn't scare people anymore.

And, lastly... This is America and nothing is free, thanks to poor leadership.

Anyways...

Maybe in a couple of months, when Fender's sales are down a little they'll cut us all a break. Even though I said I may look into getting an SG I may change my mind and get a new bass. I have an Ibanez now from the 80's. I liked it when I first bought it, but now it looks gaudy... I like the '51 style P-Bass.

If you want to get an SG right now is a good time Gibson just slashed the prices on the SG the SG standard is now 1,199 and the Special is 699.

Dollar for dollar, Most Fenders are still less expensive than most of the competitors in terms of quality and function. They have great offering of guitars at most price points. A MIM is comparable to a MIA, etc. Prices always go up as the cost of making a guitar goes up.

Not for nothing, but one of the reasons that Gibson has slashed the prices on the "faded" SGs is due to some quality control issues. That lead to poor sales and I wouldn't doubt if they discontinue the line all together. Either that or retool the manufacture.
As far as Gibsons in general, some of the nicest guitars I've played were Les Pauls, but I don't think I ever played one for less than $2,500 that was really worth playing. (other than the occasional used "player") The lesser Gibson Pauls just don't sound or feel much better than the Epi's which aren't all that cheap any more either. And you can't even find one of them made in Korea any more!
I admit, I'm a little biased towards Fender since I used to sell them, but it's hard to argue with Fender giving you the most bang for the buck.
