Well, lets see - I own a 1973 Léro Model 58 Dreadnought - it's the oldest guitar I own, in fact it is the first guitar I ever owned.

However, back in the day, I sometimes played friends guitars, some of which were from the 60s, random acoustic guitars - one of the was a Martin - I have no idea what model and age - I didn't care - it was just a guitar. :P

I had a mid-60's Epiphone Texan in high school. It was a little beat up but I got it cheap and it sounded great.

I think I sold it for 250.00...They're going for around 2 grand now.

Hindsight is always 20/20, isn't it?

Circa mid-30's Dobro squareneck, which I still own and play on a fairly regular basis. I don't take it out to gigs very often, but I will bring it out to a jam on occasion.

I still have my first guitar. An 1964 Epiphone Granada E444T. Cost was $200 for the guitar and an Ampeg amp. Took me 2 years to pay my dad back. Just had her overhauled, new tuners, some soldering and pick guard repair. She still sounds good after sitting around for 40 years.

The oldest guitar I presently own is a 1974 Gibson Les Paul Deluxe. I bought it new in March 1975. I have also in the past owned a 1958 Rickenbacker, a 1963 Gibson ES-335, a 1963 Gibson Melody Maker and a 1977 Fender Telecaster. All of these except the LP have long since gone away.

I'll second Ceri's earlier post, we both have the same guitar, built in the 1920s. Nuts!

Played, not owned:

A nameless handmade from the mid 19th century. Played and sounded "not high quality."

"What's the oldest guitar you've ever played/owned?"

Play/own a 1954 Strat.

I have a Martin A-style Mandolin that's a bit older: 1953.
