For me the oldest guitar I own is my 1979 Peavey T-60, and the oldest guitar I've ever played was a 1960s Airline owned by my Grandpa (my Grandpa insists it's from the 1950s, but I still think it's probably 60s).

Nice. My first electric was a Peavey T15 with the case amp, back in maybe 82. Still have it actually.

First guitar was a Tara nylon string, 1978, still have that too.

The oldest I've owned is a ukelin my family had, made in 1920. That's hanging in my studio.

I've played a few strats from the 50's and 60's as well.

My oldest guitar that I still have, is an Estruch classical that I bought in Spain in 1968. The oldest I've ever had was a Rosseti airstream 3 that I bought in 1963 from a local guy. My next door neighbour actually. 8)

My oldest guitar is from my grandmother. Don't know much about it but i think she may have learned on it in childhood. So from the first half of last century.

Although not my first guitar (which i still own,) this is the oldest one I own:

Image

'66 Teisco Del Ray previous owners repainted it, and took all the finish off the neck, never refinished it, so I have some work, gonna redo the body, back to one of the paintjobs they had, but maybe in a water based lacquer, just to try one out, and will have to finish the neck, and rewire it.

I own a late 60s Kay strat company. It was one of the last the company made.

I owned a few mid-'60s vintage no name guitars -- 1 acoustic, 2 electric -- that were Made in Japan back when that wasn't a positive testament of their quality. Also, I had a mid- or late-'60s Univox semi-hollow knockoff of a Gibson ES-335 in cherry red that was stolen. And finally, my '71 Fender Mustang that I sold a few years later which began the only "guitarless" period of my life since I was 12 years old.

I have a late '60s Conde Hermanos flamenco guitar that I've had for half of its life (and just over half of mine!)... people often think it must be a new guitar, but I think that's just because many electric guitarists view nylon-strings as cheap starter guitars and tend to beat them up. I can still smell cigars from twenty years ago, though. Other than that I have my great-grandmother's mandolin from the 1920s.

There's a vintage guitar place just down the road from me that's always suggesting that people come in and experience their old strats for themselves, but I always feel like I should at least be able to pretend that I could one day afford one before going in there. There's a '54 strat in there now that I'd like to have a go on.

My oldest guitars are hand-me-downs (since some of my older family members were musicians). Not saying that's bad or anything! They include a 1961 Gibson Melody Maker double-cut (my father's), a Epiphone acoustic (about 35 years, also my father's), and a 70's Chet Atkins Gretsch (my late Grandfather's).

All amazing instruments, of course! :D

It would have to be my 1965 Gibson LG-0... I don't know if I've played anything older, but I've seen plenty of very old stuff... House of Guitars has a few 1890s Gibson harp guitars (made by Orville), and a 1830s Martin.
