If i were you, I wouldn't go for it. Frontman amps don't get better as they go up in wattage, and you would be better off with a blues junior or something else in that price range with tubes.

I somewhat agree with stradmastah. The frontman amps will break up kinda quick. I have a side kick reverb that does the same thing…question is what will be the main propose of the amp.. If it is only a little practice amp that is only going to be played at lower household volumes it may be fine…I use my sidekick in addition with my Marshall stack, just to add some clarity and extra reverb into the mix. It never gets pushed to the max it just adds a little bit of what the Marshall lacks…If your friend is looking for a solid state I would look at a higher wattage to compensate for the lack of headroom on the 65R..You are going to have the same problem on the lower wattage tube amps as well …so once again what will be to job of this amp be. I think for a bed room amp it will be great but I would never gig with it as a main amp…..Bill
