I just bought a gibson ES 339, which is supposed to be a semi hollow axe that is similiar to the Les Paul in size and tones. I like the guitar, but it has some very serious finish and set up issues out of the box. It needs a proper set up and the finish needs to be sanded and re buffed. The frets are not dressed properly, you need to replace the nut and the tuners are very weak and should also be replaced. This is amazing, considering it is a Custom Shop Model made in Memphis! It is a keeper because the tone is very good and this will be my archtop. Out of the box, my Clapton Strat was heads and tails so much better. I am learning that when you buy a Gibson your paying a lot more money for a whole lot of nothing.

Fender and Gibson are both at the top. They both have a 1-2 punch strat-tele/les paul-sg both are great for blues or rock and both will be around forever.Enough with this high school nonsence, either post something useful or of importance or just /SHUT UP AND PLAY

Brad was right you guys should just ignore him. dont give him the satisfaction of attention, thats what he wants.

im only posting here to throw out a tidbit of trivia. i recall an article years back quoting Les Paul, the man himself, cursing out his Gibson at a concert because it was going out of tune...and he said something like "**** i should've brought my Fender!"

i'm trying in vain to find this article, if i do i will post, unless Brad kills this thread first
