Idk, just imo, I thought "Joker and the Thief" by Wolfmother always had a pretty sweet lick to it. That and "Train of Consequences" by Megadeth! :)

Rock guitar licks are best when simple with balls of steel.

My vote is for Whole Lotta Love

How about My Generation?

By The Muse? Or are you referring to another song by the same name?

Yes the Muse song.
It was the song that got me listening to muse and them and jimi got me into playing guitar.

The greatest guitar riff ever is Led Zep's "Black Dog." There can be no further discussion on this subject.

I beg to differ on the subject.......Good Times Bad Times is waaaayyyy better or Heartbreaker all very good choices

Stairway and Black Dog are overplayed

What about the opening riff for Can't You Hear Me Knocking by The Stones? That has to be at least in the top ten. It is my favorite anyway! :)

"Day Tripper" by the Beatles

+1

"Black Dog" and "Vodoo Chile" both come close, but I'll vote for "Day Tripper since it came first!

"Hey Bulldog" by the Beatles is an awesome riff, too!

Hey FenderHeads-

Voodoo Chile (Slight Return) is my #1 Choice- "Miserlou" would be next followed by the ever so simple "Wipeout"-

The Freeze

Many here have the same taste as I.

Couple of my favorites not listed are 'Piece of my Heart' and 'Long Cool Woman'.

Opening phrases to "Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring," J.S. Bach

It "may not" have ben written precisely for electric guitar, but the music sure responds thereto.
