Going to watch some films, and put in some bass time. I also have to take care of some domestic crap around the house, too.

marveling, at my lifelong friend who is skiing and trainspotting in Calgary as I am writing this post. We're the same age and I couldn't get up on ski's if there was a beautiful woman asking for instruction. On further consideration, I might try under those unique circumstances....... Geronimo!

I'm looking for a work from home job. I've been some kind of tech support or something like that.

Best of luck in your search, Marky. Some time ago that work at home was a difficult find, or a pipe dream at most. Today, the opportunities are out there as companies refrain or cut back from office space. Perhaps, there’s something related out there trending with the environment, online shopping, food industry, or lifestyles or . . . I’d like to do that on a beach in Tahiti, but I have enough work at home, and I make out the cheques. Just don’t head for a cruise ship with your laptop, Marky.

Checking email, and maybe get some bass time in. I might even do some bass and drums jamming later, but I'm not sure yet.

I was doing some boring management of nuts and bolts, nails and screws, tools and whatnots. I have an old seldom used vcr, ironically the tape deck works, the internal DVD player does not, and I have a small tv that will go to recycling. I threw in some very old video tapes to pass the time. They will also go to a thrift store for those who may want blank ones, and fir those who can no longer get them. Some families still have old family videos, for example, on tape. Here in Canada not only are new items unavailable but, because of our relatively small population, used items can be rare.

So, I watched a show that included close friends (such as Marty Stuart) of Elvis, those who found him, and first hand description of his death, how the events went down, and I even learned of his friend and hair dresser‘s experience that literally saw the autopsy effects without purpose or advance notice. It was said the light through a window cast a cross upon the casket, and a loud crack sounded
from a tree branch as it broke when Elvis was interred. This surprised those
attending, and the tree was later to be found green. It did not appear to have rot.

These days truth is difficult to grasp; but, these were Presley’s closest friends, and there were both friends and relatives who stand by these stories with nothing to gain. The only truth I know is that fact is stranger than fiction.
Sad that the King never got to hear or benefit from his songs reworked for today’s audience. I think he would have embraced the majority, Shortly before his death, Elvis was on the verge of bankruptcy. The colonel was taking at least 50% of Elvis’ earnings which at the time was dwindling for a variety of reasons, and the gambler Tom Parker was heading to bankruptcy himself. It is said that Elvis refused to step back with support because he wanted to keep things going for those who depended on him. That proved, in part, to be his demise.

Like him, hate him, or don’t care either way, Elvis Presley was, like few others, one of a kind, and we are richer IMHO for him. Many of the great artists of the last and of this century would agree.

Thanks, Gary. There seem to be lots of opportunities to work from home. I have a site that I check to make sure they are not frauds.

No cruise ships for this guy! Image

Thanks for giving us the highlights of the show, Gary. I loved Elvis and still do. My older sister rarely missed a concert and his music was a very familiar sound in my house growing up.

The cross on the casket and crack of a branch falling makes me wonder. 8) Oh, BTW, I'm not doing anything. :)

Your sister was obviously a big fan, Marky, My grandma was too, and she particularly liked his gospel album. Mrs. FSB was a problem. I had one chance to see him; but, it was at the end of his heyday and with a 500 mile drive I opted out. I’ve regretted not going to that concert in Minneapolis all the same.

Glad you enjoyed the bits about Elvis, Marky. I find rock history as interesting as the music more or less. It’s like any famous artist. There are a slew of known and untold stories which make the person we see, hear, and sometimes feel, relevant. No matter the music, be it the rat pack, rock, metal, punk, rap, hip hop, country, pop, or what have you, most of those that make it big live the lifestyle they portray. Perhaps, that is what makes one of a kind. In fact the industry has a history full of fabricated celebs simply to do just that while cashing in. Living the dream could be a good or bad thing, however, as many of our idols have proven.

Gotta get me some flares, a shiny faux diamond Western buckle. white rattier boots, a sequin studded jacket with a turned up collar, finishing it off with shades, and a hair dye job with one of them Funky Nashville hair pieces.
Uh, on second thought, that would be a bad thing, :P
Today, it’s more of the same. Watched a few campy black and white horror video tape movies, like a giant spider and goofy sea creature for the last time. Some I haven’t seen and they look like the slock acting and cinematography of Russ Myers for a five year old, Kinda fun before tossing them. I’m a glutton for punishment, but the payoff is r & r when the job is done.

Spent the day separating nuts and bolts and screws. Combined washers and nuts with the bolts. Separated the nails and screws from the bolts which were mixed together, for whatever reason. over time from my father in law and myself.

I have a plastic wall cabinet designed just for separating the works, and it has small divided pull out drawers (about 25); but, some time back I had an upstairs leak that migrated over top of the basement cabinet. Even though I dried the drawers, or at least thought I did, many pieces of hardware and the odd drawer became rusted so, long overdue, it was time to toss the damaged hardware and scrub the rust from the drawers affected. Some lining of the drawers and not using those ones for metal does just fine while regrouping (where necessary) with new or better replacements of nuts. bolts, washers, nails, and screws along with wall anchors and such.

The cool thing is this old coot will soon have less building and fixing so I won’t get as much use for that crap. but dang it looks purty now.

You know, you're supposed to have all of that stuff in old pickle or whatever else kind of jars, with the lids screwed into a cabinet above your work bench. :P

That’s how I got into trouble. Them thar half a dozen jelly bean jars in an old kitchen cabinet above the work bench keep collecting. It’s when you expand the hobby to coffee tins that you get yerself into a wuppin’ big heap of trouble. I can see you and me is expurts in these finer manly things. :P
