A bunch of laundry. I may or may not jam on the bass tonight. It depends on what my girlfriend wants to do, if she feels like playing the drums.

Got the Taylor out tonight. Learned a new song to play and sing. Gave up on the old ones. Tennessee Whiskey. Hoping to do it with the Taylor and the Strat, and maybe some keyboard. Too early to say as I want to practice and make improvements along the way, but it was pretty good even for me to say. It got the wife approval and smile. That's one fan. I’m working on getting a second fan . . . and a drawl.

How many guitars do you have?
Just two, Paul. I owned two acoustics in my youth, and a 12 string In the 70s and 80s. More recently I owned a pristine year old church played 2011 Tungsten (rosewood) Amn Dlx Strat with black PG, PUPs and black Witch Hat knobs that matched my amp. It was traded for a custom Strat. Nice player and just under 8 pounds. I liked everything including the sound and playability; however, the look of the rosewood with the grey was a turnoff. I thought I would eventually dig it. Ebony or maple would have been my preference even though the rosewood looks great on others. IMHO Now I have the same (with maple), mint green PG, aged white pups and knobs with S1 switching, but it’s a 2012 version in 3 TSB as you can see me holding on the left in the posts. I was looking for a nitrocellulose Daphne Blue with a beautiful cellulose mother of pearl (not like today’s) pickguard like the one I played (but, didn’t own), as a teenager in ’62; however, that chance came earlier and later, and by this time I had already bonded with the gifted one that I have. It has no problems and stays incredibly in tune, and why fix what’s not broke? I wouldn’t mind a ‘62 or earlier Daphne Blue copy with that pick-guard in a Tele though.

The Strat as we know is pretty versatile as is. It has been said that a Strat can be made to sound somewhat like a Les Paul but not a Les Paul like a Strat. At the risk of a debate, aside from resorting to YouTube examples, I did say “like” not exactly the same; but, better still, the LPs’ job on stage have, at times, been replaced by Strats in the studio and vice versa. The same is true amongst other guitars and the audience is oblivious. That’s a general statement and yet I wouldn’t worry about it. Yamaha and Steinway are interchangeable. Sorta. Still, it’s great to have the works in your toolkit. :P
Although, my eye’s out for one of three guitars LP, Gretsch, Tele, and maybe a Fender bass. I doubt if I’ll go to the higher end, and I may checkout Epiphone or Squire because of my age and no immediate family to pass them on; but, options are open for any that grab me at the right price or opportunity. I’m in no hurry like with the first electric.

My Taylor is a 2017 114ce walnut layered / spruce. Looks great in satin finish, sounds okay, and for what it is it does alright. When I bought it, I tried others and was disappointed at their quality control at my reach. I saw rusty or poorly chromed parts, mediocre fretwork, flaws in the finish, nice sound but crappy electronics and feedback, or great electronics and crappy sound. This was how models competed in their price bracket. Some were over priced and under whelming. Then there were models that I couldn’t find like a Takamine that I had my eye and hands on earlier, and I should have grabbed it. Sure there were choices and the bulk were and are outa my budget for my needs since the acoustic is no longer my primary axe. I know there were and are others to fit my mojo, but good acoustics are finding the right one by being in the right place at the right time. A/B comparisons are tough when not side by side, and location makes a big difference. I find electrics are an easier grab, and not much is gained trading or selling the Taylor. YMMV.

My wife bought me an inexpensive but nicely built 70s Raven 12 string that would cost more today, and I know a great sounding guitar can come at any price; although, your odds are better at the right price point for the value - usually. Used would certainly be okay, but luck and timing comes into that. I don’t know how an acoustic would be accepted from an online purchase. Hardly, a YouTube or other demo assurance for me. Gamblers win and lose, however.

If I collected drums like some collect guitar gear my traps would look like Neil Peart’s gigantic set. I wish. I’d rather lug a Twin, and that’s unlikely nowadays.

I’m off to listen to some tunes while shoveling snow. Makes it more bearable.

I have to finish up some laundry that I didn't get done last night. May or may not jam on the bass later. I'm not sure yet.

Yesterday, I got treated to hash browns with onions, diced green and red peppers, and bacon bits, basted eggs, toast and champagne marmalade, OJ, and hot double double fresh ground coffee. :D
Today, it’s help yourself. Hope there’s coffee in the carafe.

Sufficiently caffeinated, a little later I'll put the 2021 sticker on my license plate. Later tonight, I'll celebrate my 67th trip around the sun. Doesn't feel much different than my 66th, although I still continue to sprout hair in places I never expected to.

Cheers

 Happy 67th, vinyl. I wouldn’t worry about the extra hair. In the last few years I have found a few less strands. You can always store the extra in a box for use later. I would, but sadly, there is no extra. To make matters worse the Mrs. laid the law down for no comb overs. That’s where the toque comes in handy.
Enjoy your trip around the sun today. :D

I could shovel a little snow, but tomorrow is soon enough. I’m going to try the rubbing of shaving cream on the storm door window. It is put on and wiped off and should prevent condensation and icing up. It’s worth a try. Other than that I’m taking the day off. Yeah, I know I’m retired but I’ve yet to see it.
