I have to pick up a birthday cake. We're going to bring dinner to my ex-wife (my son's mom) for her birthday.

Spent my morning at the DMV/DHS getting a new "real ID". I read a bunch of terrible reviews for the new facility online before actually going and their average rating was 2 out of 5 stars. I'm not enthusiastic about the new ID and it's requirements etc. but what can you do! Remembering that its a privilege and not a right to be able to drive was my mindset on arrival. Most reviews complained about waiting a couple hours to get processed, disrespectful workers and inefficient systems. I found none of these reviews relevant to my visit, thankfully. I did prepare for the visit by having all the required documents. I did have to elevate the proof of veteran status document to a supervisor for approval due to a wordage issue. They wanted to read honorable discharge on the DD214 and mine said continued honorable service w/ the beginning and ending dates. I tried to explain that as a retired servicemember, I can be recalled to service as needed and was not discharged and have a valid military ID. Took me longer to drive the round trip than it did to process through the new facility.
Still don't like the all my documents in one place digitally(to prove citizenship/military service) available to the next hacker, not to mention the RFID tracking chip and digital finger printing. I'm surprised they didn't ask for DNA, they probably will eventually. I did see a few bad patrons, one w/ a poster board about race/evolution that wouldn't follow the directions of the attendants trying to expedite customers and one yute that was disrespectful calling the attendant a be-ach; I would have asking the youth to leave and come back when he grows up. And hopefully these patrons are there several hours.

Gary - On October 1, 2020 new federal ID regulations will take effect at TSA airport security checkpoints.

The new federal rules will require air travelers to have a federally-compliant form of ID in order to pass security clearance.

Arizonans have a choice to get the Travel ID. This credential is a driver license or ID that has a gold star on the top right-hand corner, and getting one is perhaps the most convenient solution but a passport will work, too.

I finished catching up on a LOT of emails and here in the Forums. Soon I will be brushing up on my Christmas songs. 8)

Checking email and social media stuff. It snowed last night, so we'll have to clean off the car. It's not too bad, though.

Looking at funky Led Edison dimmable lightbulbs. Just installed mid-century sconces alongside the bed (trying to match height and width along the wall and leveling was fun), and so I thought I’d look at these bulbs, and I found a lot of interesting variations and, although I found several I would have
liked to add to my quick delivery dimmers’ order, I was perplexed at why the size of bulbs were seldom mentioned? It was a roll of the dice.

Ah, well . . . back to the local store will do the trick, or more searching
another online, but the sales were missed and I’ll probably pay the piper. How do I know this? I have to replace a blown overhead fluorescent bedroom lamp (long story short) that is 18 years old with the limited replacement running from $13 to about $35. That would appear good at first look. Quality and new or used varies since originals (GE) are rare if any, and I’ve seen photos of only half a lamp lighting full bore. I traced one of the expected better ones here in town for $48.00 before taxes from the only store in town. At least there’s some assurance and returns. Failing that we’ll lose the overhead light we still like.

There’s always candles.

Doing some laundry, and I'll have to go to the store later.

I went for a walk, and put in some bass time today, plugged into the Rumble 350 combo. Time certainly went by fast, since it's already past midnight.

Finished renovating a bedroom, and turned the other into a temporary fully packed storage room. We are moving a flat screen out of the living room and will later attempt to renovate the guest room into a more useable TV den having removed a large bed that took up space the majority of the time.

We’ll likely still have guest sleeping accommodations; but this time it won’t be staring you in the face since there are some great comfortable alternatives out there today.

Now the problem is getting rid of two inherited sets of bedroom furniture (we think one of them is spoken for).

I don’t know what’s better. Being old and having a collection of stuff to sort out, or being young busting a butt to collect it. I’m trying to remember if there was an ideal time when I was somewhere in the middle of it.

Sometimes, I think I need a barn or an aircraft hangar. :P

Less is more.
I’m werkin’ on it. I’m werkin’ on it.

The music room? Tough to move freely with the axe, pedals, and whatnot. Useable but it’s divided length wise instead of width wise . . . well, I need an arena for that.

I went out for a walk, and did some shopping. Luckily, there was a break in the rain to where I could take advantage of that.

I wound up putting some bass time in, plugged into the Rumble 350 combo, and went out to get some Chinese food for dinner. Now, I'm listening to some Led Zeppelin and reading the news.

Going for a long walk, then watch some films, and put in some bass time. I'm thinking about hooking up the Ampeg in the living room. I'm not sure yet.

Working on my new DAW, Mixcraft 9 Pro Studio. It is so easy to use compared to all the others I've tried but it has the same advanced features including video. 8)

That’s great, Marky.

Sometimes, less is more even with production. Some of the finest studios share in this philosophy, although it can be said a full box of tools comes in handy for those moments when the full recipe is desired in the mix. There are times when that job is later sent out to another with the experience, time, and investment. Others like it easy peasy and raw. Grammy recordings have been made with simple tape recording from as little as one track or more. That said, the real talent comes from between the ears.

Mixcraft has a great reputation that has been developed over years. Today’s plug-ins are terrific additions for creativity, and I know that you’ll have a great time with a proven DAW that is far from basic, Marky. It has a nice graphical layout IMO and, from my quick look at it, the learning curve appears that it will give you more time to make that hit song. Gotta love that.

Nice!
