I just hung up automated moosick from a cable company with a cellphone on hold for customer service 3 hours after it began. The call on hold was to eventually be answered . . . or was it? Instead, an online chat was promoted over and over and yet the phone call continued without an ending. Had I not been concerned about limited and sensitive information the Chatline might have worked; but, after the former face to face cable agent’s messed up cancellation was botched, I didn’t want my Chat to end up in an out box for another agent to peruse later. I need the issue resolved yesterday.

The only reason I stayed with cable is the 5 minute great service I had before new ownership. At this rate I see more layoffs coming.

This reminds me of other assumptions online. Long story short, I hate surveys or other forms that won’t move on unless I choose an answer that doesn’t relate to me or the topic at hand. Not having a place to address a concern, or reply (theirs or mine) makes my eyes roll.
Then there’s the answering service that just gives you the business hours to call back. Okey dokey.

How about that necessary correspondence attached with analytics and fragmented sharing that needs to be unsubscribed after choices are given and made. Often bad agreements are made out of need, not unlike making a lousy banking deal. Unsubscribing often comes after damage is done, and offshoots with known and unknown (sometimes elusive) 3rd parties remain with your data and their own policies and agendas.

Dang! What’s the world coming to? First the guy with the Texaco hat and oil can took a hike, and now it’s self charging for electric cars, and don’t expect a welcomed squeegee dragged across your window either.

The new model for many companies = sees the customer as merely a "middle man" and would like to eliminate you or delay ever having to deal w/ you. All they want is your money!

Getting ready to go grocery shopping and catching up on the forum w/ my morning pot of coffee.

I need to go run a few errands. I think we're supposed to have some bad weather coming in, with strong wind gusts. Hopefully, the power will stay on.

Just remember that when a customer scans their own groceries not only is it quick, it doesn't pay taxes for infrastructure and other needs either, the customer does.
Ironically, I try to shop locally when possible (generally for everyone’s benefit). As an earlier mail order aficionado out of desire and necessity, I now find myself looking online more for those numerous things this city can’t provide. I once got burnt ordering a new custom order car that never arrived after several months wait. I’ve had 6 to 8 weeks wait for online orders from the Far East. Now I’m finding myself on a hunt for several items again after eliminating the local choices.

Do I keep the money at home or go elsewhere for my search? Tough call with products built everywhere and available elsewhere.

Might as well scan this or that too.
Dang! What’s the world coming to? Drone delivery and a pizza? As long as the pizza’s good and the photo turns out I’m good with it, :P

I've been having some issues with my Chrome browser, so I had to uninstall and reinstall it, and hopefully it will be working correctly now. If not, then I'll have to seek other options. I should save my links to my desktop from them, since I have been going through all of that, and I don't have an update file of that, in case I have to abandon the platform. Also, we had one hell of a storm rip through here with tropical storm strength wind gusts, but luckily, our power stayed on. I know other parts of the state and Massachusetts weren't as lucky. They had higher wind gusts around there.

Tough bit of weather you’re having out there on the east coast, Paul. In fact there’s crazy weather all over with winter showing it’s ugly face early. Huge trees are uplifted or broken here on the prairies, but I see the Maritimes also has the same dilemma. Nova Scotia, for example, had a storm that messed them up pretty good. Looks like we’ll have to hunker down if this keeps up or returns. Fortunately. things have melted in the neighbourhood, but cleanup has a ways to go especially for northerners vacated to Winnipeg while their homes get back to normal. Keep yer toque at the ready, and take care.

Life would be so much better if one didn’t have to manage the OS and it’s whojockamacpivots. Computers are great tools and fun, but I feel for ya, Paul. It seems like a lifetime for personal computing and yet here we are wasting time to keep the dang things running whether it’s upgrades, security, or . . . I’m looking at a new computer, but the best I can do is to get the most affordable one that can keep some pace with current needs. That’s sure to last, huh?
I believe it’s only a matter of time, with or without our acceptance, until we are networked without need to maintain, upgrade, or fix the workings required to run our programs. We’ve already had clues of that direction. Whether good or bad, we’re stuck having a song and dance with every computer till then. Hope yours works out for you, Paul.

I more or less got it figured out. It's definitely an issue with Chrome, since I went ahead and used the Microsoft Edge browser and didn't have the issue. I went ahead and set up the Edge browser, in case I need to use it, but I do prefer using Chrome. Ever since Chrome's last two updates I had an issue with Gmail, and opening links from certain emails I have, which I didn't before.

Yeah, the weather has been a bit wonky. I've heard this winter isn't suppose to be as cold this year, but who knows how that will pan out? As long as I don't have to sit through a friggin' blizzard, I'm cool, either way. That's what toques are for. :P

I'm planning on going for a walk around 5:00 AM, and also take a look at what the storm did around town. A few people apparently lost power and had downed trees, but we were lucky with that.

Glad you’re up and running with the computer, Paul. I’m thinking of starting a franchise of computer related stress clubs with a bar. This might be a money maker. It’ll have one room with old computers that you can throw at the wall or bash with a hammer and boot kick to get your frustration out. I’d also have a bunch of geeks to confirm your computer is no good so you can get a discount by destroying your own computer before it destroys you. You’ll learn new curse words in a cone of silence so as not to disturb anyone. At the end you’ll be asked to submit a new word of your own which will then be added to the list for others to use. You’ll be taught when to say, “I didn't know that” (everyone else does) or “I know that” (everyone else doesn’t) or “I knew that” which is an outright lie (good for making you feel and look smart). Also to say, “If I’d known that I wouldn’t have installed it!” or “Not again! You gotta be kidding me.” In another room you’ll get to build your own computer with the crap on the floor left over from the grab and smash activity. You’ll learn how Apple and Microsoft hate each other. There will be social workers to prepare you for the latest problems expected to appear just when everything is going good. I’d hire therapists that have been there done that to teach you how to slap a monitor, pound your fist on the keyboard, throw you hands in the air, find use for a finger, pull your hair out with style, spit, push your chair over, rip the keys outa the keyboard, squeeze your hand with a laptop, push away from the workstation, jab a USB into your eyeball, and stick a Data Disc under your fingernails. By this time you will feel downtrodden. Not to fear. You’ll be getting a free Kool-Aid colour added to your hair, given a new gamer name, tattooed with printer ink, and led to a bar with others feeling pain, and the bar will be the money maker.
I’m like you. Paul. After enough cold one gets true grit in their veins; but, no matter how long you experience stormy weather it’s unwelcomed. I can deal with shoveling out having done it from crawling out a window when I lived in Nova Scotia; but, snow removal day after day or over a long period gets me wanting to be elsewhere. I can bundle up warm, but any gloves or mitts I’ve used over the years have their own limitations.

Thankfully, my trusty toque keeps me in the zone for survival. I think I’ll make a nightcap one so I’ll be ready for anything.

I haven't had too much problem with my computer, although I have wiped the hard drive a couple of times that I did. That was my solution, just back up my files on a USB drive, and start the whole thing all over. That usually takes care of everything. The problem I had earlier was just an email issue, which was more of an annoyance than a serious issue.

Well, the worst winter we've had to deal with was in 2010 when we had to deal with this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/February_ ... n_blizzard

We lost power for I think was 36 hours, which wasn't fun being in a dark, 10 degree house for that time period. Luckily, our hot water heater still worked, because it's gas with a flint ignition. As long as I don't have to deal with that again, I'm good. The power company wasn't prepared for that one, and that pissed off the governor, so after that, they've been on the ball in case we've had any other events happening. I just hope I don't have to go through that again, that's all I can say.

I'm glad you guys made it through your rough weather and computer problems.

Paul - have you considered using Mozilla Firefox browser? I've been using it for many years and it's super stable. I never had a problem with it. You should be able to import all of your chrome bookmarks into it very easily. Assuming the file is not corrupted.

I woke up feeling really good today and got all my chores finished already. Now I'm going to relax and read the owner's manual for the new Boss ME-80 that I bought.

Looks like you have everything under control, Paul. That’s great. I agree with Marky. Firefox works for me too except recently it has no support with my existing older OS, At least it’s usable.

Wow! Boss Me-80. I’m happy for you, Marky. That’ll keep you away from the DAW. What a great tool to add to your collection. Nice! Enjoy good times with that monster. 8)
As for snow storms, I moved from no snow country to the following which kept me at work for three days where we kept the TV station working around the clock. I was introduced to Winterpeg with it’s worst snowstorm ever a few months after arriving in 1966. Fortunately, although snowed in, we trudged to the adjacent mall where people slept anywhere they could, and two grocery chains opened up. :P

Gettin’ spruced up, steppin’ out with best friends, taking cabs all the way. You know what that means. Trouble. Hahaha.

Starting off with my favourite fine dining restaurant that’s been around.for over 4 decades. It’s been awhile. Later, we’ll migrate to the rockin’ bar below. I’m hoping for live music.

Been up since 5am, Back in the day I’d party till 5am the next day. A habit from days of shore leave. :P I hope I can make it until midnight now. On the other hand I have to take my good looking better part of me home.
Whatta ya think, Paul? Should I leave my toque at home and give it the night off or should I cover my thinning hair.
Enjoy your Friday night gang. I’ll lift a glass or two for ya. :D
