Our rainfall for the last two weeks has also been a blessing. Well, sort of. Everyone has grass growing to replace the damage done from the second year of road building. We’ve had a pretty good summer, but little or no rain too. Not surprisingly there’s payback at this time of year. That payback now has mushrooms showing up in the front yard now that our removed birch tree’s roots have finally gone to rot after a year. Apparently, they are edible; but, I’m a wuss so they get no love.

I travel through Medicine Hat whenever I drive to the coast. It’s a pretty nice prairie town IMHO. I’m not surprised about the weather though. Snow and wind, can be brutal; but, Medicine Hat is well known for some scary rolling thunder, crazy lightning, torrential rain, golf ball hail, semi tipping wind, and possible funnel cloud storms. Driving the Trans Canada Highway 1 on open flatland through there can be challenging at times. Not a hurricane; but, not a picnic either. Approaching Medicine Hat is a welcomed sight to wait it out.

Sorry, the weather sucked sfceric64. Hopefully, a good time made up for it.

Hope you had a toque. If you didn’t, the locals would know you’re a stranger in town. Then they’d put a tight grip on their Canadian beer, eh?

I can only say that at times I was
Quote:
fully exposed
to the elements...
But thoroughly enjoyed the hotel/casino/indoor pool in Medicine Hat after the days work was done.
When in civilian attire a toque was part of the attire unless indoors!

Purfect.

Real men wear toques. (I didn’t think so at first. I fought the idea and thought it was bad for my swag; but, once I was taught the error of my ways, I stood tall and haven’t looked back. Besides, toques on yer dome is a great way to hide while chasing the terrorists. It really helps if everyone else has a toque though.

Doing some laundry, listening to an internet radio show, checking social media and email, and playing bass. Multitasking! :P

I'm getting ready to do some burgers on the grill here, in a bit. Image

Planning on going for a long walk today, then some bass time. It's going to be a long day, because even though I woke up really early, I'll be pretty much going to bed around this time, if not earlier, tonight, to be back on our usual schedule.

Right now, I'm listening to my empty stomach growling at me. It's about breakfast time!

I’m wrapping up odd jobs, and whatnot which is taking some time (a couple of days) for a variety of reasons including the season. I’m preparing for a drive to the west coast on short notice as my 96 year old mother has been moved into palliative care. Flying would be a good choice, but I may be bringing stuff back with me so the wheels are needed. Hopefully, snow will not hit the mountains with a vengeance like my last drive out there.

I got up early today, for no special reason. I'll have to find some fun things to do today because all our chores are finished.

Sorry to read about your dear mother, Gary. Have a safe trip.

Sorry to hear about your mother. Hopefully, the weather will be kind. I know we're getting to that time of year we'll be breaking out the toque hats, with you usually sooner than me.

Thank you, Marky. Much appreciated. Mom is 96, and I feel she has just given up. Won't take liquids, food, or drugs. She just turns her head away, and now has IVs. I can’t have a conversation because she has Dementia; however, this present stage just began in the last two weeks. Dementia is a tough one, and this is the second 96 year old mother under our care that reached this stage in a sudden fashion only to not have it long. One minute things are as best possible, and a different person the next. It’s now said they’re onto an early stage preventative cure. Wouldn’t that be great, Marky?

Thanks, again.

Best
Gary

Thank you, Paul. Just talked with a cousin who lives close to the Rockies, and it’s basically clear of snow; but, experience tells us this time of year is subject to a quick change at those altitudes, and behind all the beauty it can get ugly and dangerous even for the best drivers. You can tell the seasoned mountain drivers though. They’re the ones with the toques, the others are wearing helmets.

Hope hurricane Dorian wasn’t too much of a strain on you and your girlfriend, Paul.

No, just some crappy weather and leaves blown off the trees. It wasn't any worse than a typical Nor'easter that we'll get from time to time. We got lucky that it just grazed past us. I did hear it wound up somewhere in Canada, though.

Good to see you stayed outa harm’s reach with that dastardly Dorian, Paul, and yes the Maritimes got what amounted to a tropical storm, less than a category 1, but lots of rainfall and a fair amount of damage; but, nothing compared to your side of the border, and I feel bad for the Bahamians.

It sure would be, Gary. My mom lived 95 years and also had dementia. Hers came on gradually and lasted for about two years. It's a sad way to end a marvelous life and a preventative cure would be amazing.

Have a safe trip and my prayers are with you and your mom.

I have nothing planned for today so it will be R&R. :)
