25 cents? Wow, I could have actually gotten something with one of those damned Canadian quarters I got stuck with when I got change back a long time ago. :P I have a couple of those, with a dime or two, and maybe even a couple of pennies. Didn't you all quit circulating pennies, though? I thought I read about that somewhere, but I'm not sure.
Dang! I thought Russian dressing came from Russia and French dressing came from Quebec. That must be French Canadienne dressing I’m thinking of. Prolly tastes like maple syrup,
As for 1000 Island(s) you are close by, Paul.
https://visit1000islands.com/

Yep, a quarter was a quarter. Before this current government our dollar against yours reached one dollar and a quarter. Your dollar and quarter  Today, our dollar is artificially deflated to an average of 75 cents against yours for trade purposes (most of which we the people never see since a lot of benefits return offshore). A 50 cents drop from before. I want my quarter back. :x
The same dudes that gave us a low dollar took away our copper and gave us a Loonie coin. Bad enough they took our silver away. We still have bills; but, if you break a 10 note for a buck you’re likely to get 9 more Loonies. No more two dollar bills for some time either. Good plan, huh? Phht! You need cargo pants just to carry change, and vending machines raised prices like one arm bandits because loonies are more convenient blah blah.

We’re not trillions of dollars in debt like the U.S. (but, where has that ever made a difference?), and we could easily make our dollar an equal dollar; but, that would require an election to get rid of the loonies in Ottawa. A change is as good as the rest.

I'm about to put in some Strat time before my son gets up. Then we have some errands to run.

Liking that new Strat, huh, Marky? You’re getting in a lot of practice. That’s great. I see a platinum record hanging on your wall soon. It will look good next to your gaming award.

Meanwhile, I’ve hung others’ records on the wall. I need more practice.

Everyone needs more practice. You are a rock star, FSB.

I really do like my new Strat. I lost 6 days of practicing so I better get going. :) Oh BTW, score one for us Seniors. I managed to beat my son, one time, at Call of Duty! Ha! 8)

Whoo hoo! That’ll show the whipoersnapper that we sneaky oldies but goodies don’t get mad, don’t get discouraged, don’t give up, and get even.

Boy! That must have felt good. I’m promoting you to Special Ops commander on behalf of us old coots. That’ll teach him.
Congrats, Marky.

Thanks, FSB! It did feel really good to beat him at his own game. I went on a crazy streak. We old coots should never be underestimated! Thank you for my promotion. I shall serve us well. :)

I went for a walk earlier, and I'm planning on going for another one in a bit. Then, I'll figure what to do for dinner, that sort of thing.

Well, at least now I know where the 1000 Islands are. :P

I don't know what I can even do with those coins I have, unless I go to Canada. I wonder if the bank would exchange them or not?

Sure they’ll exchange them. After exchange rate, their share for doing business, and the difference of the dollar you may be ahead, I would do it soon though, we have an election for the other guys coming up.

Maybe, you can use them for a parking meter. Nothing says anything about foreign quarters. Can’t say if they’ll all work though. When I lived in a tourist town I used to collect the American change for the ferry trip to Port Angeles.

Here’s another idea. You could mount them with facing backside engravings into your bass, and counter weight it from being tipsy.
Never tried them as a pick, but ya never know. :P

The one thing I know is that the quarters will get rejected in those coin machines that you can cash your change in. That's how I found out with a couple of them. I suppose they have a different weight to them, or something that you can tell the difference, other than looking at them. By the way, how often do you have elections there? I've never looked into Canadian politics, other than seeing some news article here and there, if something happened to make the news internationally. Next year is our Presidential one, which makes me glad I don't watch a lot of local TV stations, so I'm not constantly bombarded with political commercials.

Tough question to answer:

Canada’s federal government must call an election before 5 years is up. That being 4 years. It can occur with a non confidence vote amongst a minority government or within the majority governing party before hand if the prime minister doesn’t have support.
It is based on the British system which just saw a change of their Prime Minister along with differences around Brexit,

Premiers of provinces also have similar elections, but times can vary.

No term limits for the Prime Minister or Premier as long as they get re-elected (or as I like to say re-ejected).

There are three major parties with one that more or less shares the route that Bernie Sanders is on. This younger party’s fame brought in national health care, but in essence are similar or displaced liberals.

Add the traditions of the Queen of England, and it gets complicated like other Commonwealth countries; but, that’s it in a nutshell.

Referendums are almost non-existent. Phht!

American TV pretty much has us clued in with your process. We don’t have any broadcasting that compares to the political pattern of CNN; but, there is Canadian participation on CNN’s/HLN’s desk (even some I’ve directed in the past). Anderson Cooper is coming to town soon for a performance as have your senators and Presidents. Money in the bank I suppose . . . or a book signing.

CBC is appearing to be more like CNN in part with their delivery, but not necessarily as stringent in views (so far) being that CBC belongs to all taxpayers, and the other networks are definitely partial to one party, but it is more subtle for ratings and government support. There is an association amongst the media and across borders however.

All your federal elections and ongoings
bring interest. Your next Presidential election certainly will be viewed as part of the world stage.

Now you’re an expert in short form. :wink

Heads up

I just ran across something I’ve never seen, although I might be late for the party.

It may be the dumbest move or clever. Either way it is due to catch some unsuspecting soul or a less observant individual in a hurry,

On a telephone reversal site asking for a number entry, as soon as you engage the cursor in the search box, instead of a keyboard you get a pop up that is a phone pad. Normally, this is obvious, and this one is to a point, but the only offering to add the phone number for a search is a grey phone pad. My bet is most will catch it it; but if you are bouncing around with similar phone search sites like I was, never say never.

It could be legit to be artsy, not make a call, and enter numbers as desired. I wouldn’t want to try it though.

Sorry, I didn’t get the site’s URL or name, but it may show elsewhere.

Okay. I thought you’d never ask. This is how they start. Put a rink in the capital city with politicians involved. Check the toque.
