Scratching my head.

I knew I put four tin can ant traps in strategic places outdoors yesterday. My wife informed me that two had gone missing overnight? This made no sense. So I went and saw this for myself, and they were gone! We had entered the Twilight Zone.
My backyard is fenced in, but security is iffy when it comes to animals. A pesky squirrel is Mrs. FSB’s fave at the moment. He sits and digs in 3 foot high flower pots. Even crushed red peppers and garlic doesn’t bother him. We searched high and low. AHA! We found them in the mulch under our evergreen 40 footer. The #%^*+$& squirrel is busted for stealing the ant traps unless his partner in crime (Thumper the wascally rabbit) is responsible.

Over a dozen birds, sparrows I believe, also landed in the yard and pecked at everything in sight. Generally, we not only like birds, but encourage them here in the flyway where the variety is large. These ones attacked a good condition wicker chair (a first), and it’s arm was a little frayed before they got chased away. Fortunately, with a little cut here and a tuck there I managed to hide the evidence.

This is a crazy year. I like dogs, and I sometimes like cats as they tend to be more Independent and, well, different. The problem I have is that many more house cats are left to roam. That was okay and expected when I lived on the farm. An inherent problem is where one cat goes others tend to follow. I have them digging recently purchased plants, urinating (marking territory), scratching my vinyl tarps to shreds, and helping themselves to curling up on our patio furniture. Yesterday I finished painting a sidewalk only to find an uninvited neighbourhood member of the Felidae species pussyfooting across my work. Lucky for me and him/her, the temperature was in the high 80s and, fortunately, the paint had dried. Cat paws could have decorated the yard and worse. Neighbourhood cats are allowed to roam free if in their yard, and leashed if not. No dogs show up in the fenced yard unless invited. I use pet friendly chemicals because, years ago, my only dog died from the other kind. Sometimes, I’ll use thinners or such, and I don’t want a sick animal on my hands. Many owners should take more responsibility methinks.

I no longer use cat gut for my drum (yeah, I’m old, and used pigskin drum heads too), but the squirrel had better reconsider his routine. :x He could end up stuffed in a peanut butter jar.

FSB, looks to me like your getting ready to write a new recipe for the cooking thread. For squirrel portions I think one fattened, will yield enough stew meat for two.

Checking on various forum and social media activity, and listening to a weekly internet radio show, that's on Thursday nights 11 PM to 1 AM.

Right now I’m sitting in Urgent Care at the hospital. No biggie. Just waiting for the doc to have a cautionary look at a forearm bruise and lump where I had a stent operation via the arm last year (a year 1 week from today - go figure). Three hours and counting to see someone to diagnose it, so I’m passing time enjoying it here on the Forum with a Tim Horton’s coffee and donut. Typical Canuck.

All’s well that ends well. Just a broken blood vessel, and back at home 5 hours later. Now J’m watching the second half of the football game, having a turkey and cheese sammie, a cup of onion soup, and an ice cold beer. Life is good.. :D

I just got all the outside light timers reset after losing power the other day, after a pretty strong thunderstorm moved through the area.

I went for a walk earlier, just as the sun came up. Later, I'll have to go to the store, and then get some Chinese for dinner.
