The only thing up here, and I imagine even more so for you, since you're further up north, is you get to go in only a certain amount of time during the year, unless you're one of those Polar Bear Club folks, or whatever they are, and like to dip into ice baths. :P I suppose if you have your toque hat, you should be OK. :P
 You got it right there, Paul. Kinda hard to dive into a lake covered by ice. We have one lake here that all year remains colder that the ice cold beer in your hand; but I remember frigid dips in the Atlantic, and having to wear mukluks so I wouldn’t cut my beautiful feet on the barnacles.

I'm getting ready to get out to the stores, after just playing sprinkler repairman in the yard.

Feeling kinda sad for Raptors’ fans and the team today. Kawhi Leonard signed for $142 million over 4 years; but, understandably, he is going to the LA Clippers. Happy for Kawhi though.

Raptor Danny Green is now a Laker.

Good luck in your new adventure Kawhi and Danny, and thanks for the trophy.

(Just now learning of last night’s 7.1 California earthquake. The west coast from Alaska to California has had it’s share of rock and rollin’ lately. Are you sure that’s a good move, fellas?)

I'm not sure if I'm going to go for a walk or not today, but I do plan on watching some films and putting in some bass time.

I was getting things ready outside for a bit of a celebration tomorrow for our best friends when, suddenly, I smelled smoke, I thought it couldn’t be a barbecue because it was too strong and increasing, maybe a fire pit, but I quickly ruled that out as smoke slowly crept in everywhere, and then billowing from one direction. It was some time until we heard sirens and then we took a walk in the direction only to find it wasn’t the Olympic Pool, or clinic next to it or school or community centre or high rise apartments or anything related even though ambulances were outside the seniors’ home. The city was covered in dark grey smoke almost to be unbreathable. Hmm? Perhaps. It was farmers burning off their fields. If it was a brush fire because of the dryness . . . it was a BIG brush.

Returning home we caught the news. The commotion came from Ontario’s forest fires in the province next door (border is 119 miles / 191 kms away). No surprise here.

Living in Central Canada we get a lot thrown at us from east, west, north and south. Smoke, volcanic ash, radioactive samples from Russian and Chinese nuclear tests for example, a mixup of weather, and much more. Makes life interesting. :P

Wow, are you at any risk for that heading your way? I know California had some really bad fires recently, and now they've gotten nailed with a couple of earthquakes. I know quite a few people that live out there, and I have a cousin out there, as well. He lives in the area where they hit, so he evacuated the last time I've heard from them. I don't think they got any extensive damage to their place, though. I suppose he was playing it safe, rather than sorry for a couple of days.

We’re safe here, Paul. Thanks, for the concern.

Between the ramped up infrastructure repairs, construction dirt and concrete dust plus the smoke, the air quality sucks, however, in this dry weather. It’s reported that the smoke will clear tomorrow, but for how long is anybody’s guess. Certainly, it is less concern than for those close to the flames and others with danger at their back door.

It seems I always choose to live between areas with dangerous activity. I used to live on a fault line that ran to our island from Washington state or is it the other way around ? If that’s not bad enough we were between Alaska and California with possible tsunamis from Japan. There had been a destructive one from Alaska in the 60s. An average of 200 recorded earthquakes a year are not uncommon; but, fortunately most are very deep and/or further out in the ocean where there’s is a recordable network of permanent underwater sensors and other technology. I’ve felt my fair share of shakes and rolls like the after effects of the 9.2 magnitude mega thrust 1964 Anchorage Alaska quake. Vancouver Island is like an inverted mountain where the peak sits upside down on another mountain peak right side up. It is also part of the Pacific’s Ring of Fire which runs the whole west coast and much further.

One problem that California has is its population over and/or around fault lines. Vancouver Island and Alaska have had many recent quakes just below and above 7.0, and if you add that with nearby volcanoes, California’s recent history and Japan’s, and a news
report as I write this, the expert prediction is said to be 6 months of continuous activity for the Golden State.

Let’s hope it is minor.

We heard about that and my son pointed out an interesting statistic that he thought of. Kawhi is the only player to win the NBA Finals MVP trophy while playing for two different countries. He won it in 2014 when he was with the Spurs and this year with the Raptors. I wonder when that will happen again.

I'm going to make my first attempt at video/audio recording. I don't have a camera, except on my laptop, so I'll have to use that. I have no idea what programs to use or how to do it so this could be interesting. I love learning new things. Any tips would be welcome. :)

I'm not sure, but I'll probably go for a walk. It's a nice day today.

We did go for a walk, and wind up getting an ice cream. It's been pretty busy around town, but that's the time of year when it is. It's pretty desolate in the winter.

I’m recuperating from last night. We celebrated an anniversary and birthday for friends last night and it was perfect weather in the 70s with no wind or pesky flying insects so we sat by the fire on the patio under the stars until 2am.

Then up early to cover everything before the short thunder and lightning rain storm, a quick trip to an appointment, and back home for a crash after dinner. Woke up later in the night and about to crash again.

Gotta get the physical clock back on time. Retirement will do that to you. :P

Going to get gas in the car, and then to the grocery store.
