I did the Walmart thing today, as well. It was kind of a cluster you know what around there.

Today me and Mrs. FSB celebrate being hitched for 48 years. (She rocked the cradle). I did good. We’ll crack open for the first time some premium local wine from my old Vancouver Island home trip. Should be interesting.

Cheers!

If it doesn’t work out, replacements are within walking distance. :P

Happy days and congratulations to you both. Have a fun day enjoying each other's company. :)
Me and Mrs. FSB thank you for the congrats, Marky. Cost me a new Colorado blue spruce bush though to replace the birch tree. I couldn’t come up with a Saguaro at the garden centre.
As for the wine, they were a quick unknown grab before leaving the island. I looked ‘em up on the Net this afternoon, and one was rated 4 out of 5, the other was the only Canadian Pinot Noir to win a medal (silver) at an overseas international wine festival. Phew! Lucky me. I thought I’d have to walk for a replacements

Hey there young fella, Thanks a bunch. We appreciate your kind words. I was vewy, vewy, vewy, vewy, young back then (dark hair, a 28 inch waist, 135 pounds, and buff), Boo hoo
I’m a like an old jalopy. Kinda rusty. The original colour is gone, but there’s still some mileage left. My wife? She’s a classic. Hard to find these days, and she polishes up real purty. :D

I'm going to go for a long walk this morning. Actually, it's been a while since I went out at this time. I imagine it will be quiet around town, except for a few joggers, probably.

Nice, Paul.

I’m not a fan of concrete jungles, but they are, I suppose, a necessity in life since compacted structures have been around for centuries. This house where I live was originally on the outskirts of town, and now, even with adjacent untouched claimed land and ongoing urban development it is close to being central in the sprawling city

There’s something peaceful and rewarding to share in the early morning before hustle and bustle sets in around an otherwise busy location.

In the days when I worked outside the city, I drove an extremely busy highway that led to a neighbouring small tourist town where ferries to and from the mainland would sail in.

I got an early start where I was alone on that daily drive by the ocean. Sunroof opened up, airplanes grounded, the odd boat or ship alongside with a trailing wake and, with the sunrise, bald eagles soaring in circles overhead greeted me quietly with one of my favourite times of serenity.

Enjoy times like that whenever you can and wherever you are. It’s one of life’s finer gifts. IMHO. 8) Of course, others find that boring so YMMV.

I'm doing dog and trash activities today too, Glenn. I love the cool mornings so I did my weekly dog poop patrol in the yard because the trash goes to the street tonight.

It's time for my second cup of coffee then some Strat time and get a blood test in a few hours. Exciting, huh?

Besides doing my long walk today, we wound up actually going into the harbor (there's a beach area by the park that's next to it that I think only locals pretty much know about, because it's not really an obvious place to go swimming, and it's main used as a boat ramp, and dock, where people fish off of,) and actually go for a swim. I haven't been in the water for years, and this was the first time I've actually went into there, even though I've seen people go in there before. The water was actually clear, so I could see the bottom, and we spotted a live horseshoe crab moving along the bottom. I say that, because I've never seen one alive before, usually just dead, washed up on a shore.

Glad you had a great time at the beach. Paul. Seeing a live horseshoe crab must’ve been very cool. i’ve never seen a live one.
Bet ya it won’t stop you from crab on your plate, though.
I miss that kind of experience along the ocean. I used to love looking into tidal pools that we’re always fun to explore. Swimming in the ocean with my mask and snorkel was always fun; but, it took on a different meaning once I grew a little and learned of the world’s biggest species of octopus, mostly docile wolf eels, and sharks (typically harmless dogfish) nearby. However, rare sightings of more aggressive species do occur because of the food chain. That didn’t spoil my curiosity though. If anything, it increased it. After all, we didn’t have major incidents like the east coast has. It is likely because local Killer Whales (Orcas) have been proven by research to outmatch a Great White. Phew!

When in Fort Lauderdale I discovered a vacant beach due to shark closure, and later learned there was a shark net just below the surface to prevent those babies from cruising past the tourists.

Didn’t bother me though. I swam up north with the crew, gun boats at the ready, in the Atlantic’s Gulf Stream days away from land. It was only when really interesting Portuguese man-of war jelly fish sailed in with the warm current that we scrambled up the net alongside. With porpoise and divers around us, and a marine biologist on board we felt reasonably safe until then.

Factoid:
Portuguese man-of-war are not truly jellyfish. They (not it) are a colony of organisms making four polyps with stinging venomous tentacles, These demons can travel above and below water in groups of several hundred. If you ever see one on a beach (mostly near open ocean) don’t touch it! You’re better off touching a hermit crab if you’re lucky enough to see one. :P

Spent the afternoon with Apple trying to find out how, with my absolutely wonderful does everything when it’s working iPhone X, Chinese text characters got onto my PC’s management in iCloud. I couldn’t reproduce my problem aside from a graphic example, long story short. “Roll over Rover. Show the nice lady that you can roll over, What are you doing? How can we have any credibility when you won’t cooperate?” Well, that's about how it went.

The problem did prove to exist, and we think it was software version incompatibility in the loop, but iCloud saw Chinese intervention some time ago. Can’t say this is the same; but, until we can prove or disprove interference with one or two more lucky recipients. vigilance is the name of the game with a report made for safe keeping.

In case you haven’t heard the latest on the 737 Max 8, it now has a computer chip being suspect along with the software. Hmm? That could shift some blame; unless, perhaps, there was some reason to find the fault earlier.
Now I know why flying cars are not the norm.

Flying on the ground is wrong . . .
La la la

I just got in from taking the dog for a short walk. It's getting pretty hot out already. But he liked it.

It’s 87°F and I just quit working for the day. I had a perfect planting spot that I thought had been all ground up (no pun intended) with a tree and stump removed leaving what amounts to soil and mulch. So off I go, make the measurements, and do the dig Uh oh. Further down major roots. Can’t blame anyone though, Tree and stump were gone as planned. I thought the roots would have rotted by now. Nope.

Plan B. Well, on one side is a gas line and the other a water line so any future growth of the blue spruce may infringe if the city needs access. No matter where I relocate the plant in a nearby vicinity it is a toss up for hitting yard roots, as I found, Looks like the old axe is going to get a workout with the old guy since I decided to fill the first hole because the option of attacking the problem is not worth it. Now, I have more work dressing the first hole with, perhaps, sod, long story short.

Therefore, I’m initiating this garden adage:

“If digging the hole is easy and the plant fits . . . you can be sure it’s not in your desired spot.”

Going to return the AC we got from Walmart, since it's too small for the window, and we're just using the old one. It still works, anyway. Might go for a walk, too.
