BBQ’d some hotdogs and sat on the patio where two black and white cute baby chickadees emerged for the first time from one of Mrs. FSB’s birdhouses.
At first they poked their heads out and then attempted to fly. They made a good effort, but crash landed.onto the mulch below. They got separated walking around the patio, exploring the yard. and trying to climb the 40 foot evergreen.

Then, outside my gate, I found a flattened chickadee and a bunny run over by a neighbour’s truck according to tracks. We thought that dead bird might’ve been the little fledglings’
parent; but, the two parents who are not shy showed up after a time. They fed their babies on the ground which is where I last saw them. They are nowhere to be seen here at night. Mrs. FSB is like a mother hen, until I told her that it would be best to not touch them and let Mother Nature run her course. My biggest fear are the many predators out there should the chickadees not be in a good place.

If they survive the busy alley, in the yard and overhead there are hawks, falcons, and other bird eaters, amongst them red and grey squirrels in the tree. rabbits, and many delinquent cats (which eat over 3 billion birds a year). I hope those little tykes will make it another day for us to see them in flight. :|

Probably go for a walk. I do need to go to the grocery store, though.

I just finished dinner after running some errands. Now it's Strat time and then some TV.

Order came today:

I have a charcoal kettle and an older lesser used but nice gas grill that was on clearance before the company was bought. A wife, a mother and mother-in-law made me do it. This gas grill brand was rated in the top 5 when purchased, but it hasn’t been around for some time. However, after an extensive search, thanks to the Net, I finally managed to score new exact fit cooking grates and stainless steel heat plates/flavour bars which had rusted. Whoo hoo! I have yet to find the grate for the infrared searing side burner, though. If I can ever find it (doubtful) the BBQ will look and perform close to a new one at a fraction of today’s prices. Still, there are some doozy barbecues out there that look like Star Wars. Nothing wrong with simple though, I use and appreciate one all the time. The only thing I don’t like about grills/kettles is the cleanup. Now if only they had a push button for that . . . I’d grab it.

I miss having a gas grill. The one we had died years ago, and it was never replaced. I hate using charcoal, since I think it's a massive pain in the arse, especially cleanup, and it just takes too long to even mess with in the first place. I remember my dad rigged up a gas grill at my sister's old house, when they lived in Florida, to the natural gas line, instead of having to use propane tanks, that was pretty cool. As long as you paid the gas bill, you didn't have to worry about anything, other than cleaning the grill top.

Nice job on your grill, FSB. I love grilled food but don't like the clean up either. We have an LP gas grill now so no messing around with charcoal. In our last house we had one connected to the house natural gas. That was really easy except for the dang clean up. If we could invent someway around that, we'd be gazillionaires. :) I have a blood test soon then it's Strat time. I've been fortunate that my tremor is behaving and I've been able to play quite a bit. :D

I think I'll go for a walk, depending on what's going on around here.

 I’d love to hookup to my gas line, but the line is too far from our patio. I like both BBQ’s for different reasons. The gas is convenient, but like all ovens they still need some TLC as I need to clean mine this week. The charcoal is definitely different, a dirt devil for sure, but for some things like Alder smoked fish or a 20+ pound turkey, oversized pizza, or other large selections, along with crispy charring they can’t be beat (with exceptions), even with some smokers as I have built in with the gas, unless you have the big capacity Cadillac ranges to do it all. As for healthy choices, some of the ingredients to get that smokey taste are not any better IMHO. I try to not eat charcoal BBQ exclusively as I use.to do, and sometimes both are used together. Besides, how else can you get the BBQ mojo without charcoal smoke impregnating your clothing? I find using the rotisserie less trouble with the gas. Even then, the wind or cold and (for some, elevation as with propane camp stoves) makes gas grills a difficult choice, Paul. The charcoals work fine in that situation. On the other hand, some things don’t take to charcoal. Never try smokey French fries

Thanks, Marky. I’ve exhausted the search most everywhere for the grid replacement on its no longer available infrared side burner, But, I did locate some custom cut grates (more like ridged plates) made of hard anodized aluminum that will solve the problem. Aside from other custom solutions, these will do the trick and I’m a happy camper with an improvement. As for cleaning, many, including me, took one look at clean grates to mean better. Go to a BBQ contest and you’ll find clean to mean they are dark, blackened, and seasoned. A good wipe down, and removal of chunky debris is about all that is needed. A little soap and water is okay, (but mild soap). Dishwasher grade may pit your grates, and as for that elbow grease scrubbing, as I have done, it is only going to remove the better part of the seasoning, apparently, and it won't help with non sticking.

Here's a trick I do. Crunch up some tinfoil in your hand and use that in a pinch to remove some grate grunge. Using tongs or protective gloves, season hot grates with a half sliced onion instead of oil for benefits. Olive oil has a low smoke level. Oils are generally good to 500°, and onion’s with their hard stick sulfide layer are good to 1000°!

I have non stick mats and a number of trays and cookware specifically for grilling, especially for things that fall through spaces, but the grates are found to be better in some situations. YMMV.

Glad to know your tremors have been under control, Marky, and that you are enjoying time with the Strat. Yesterday, I got some playing time on on the patio with the acoustic. Me and my guitars have been in hiatus with Spring cleanup. Things were going okay until, while playing, my left underside forearm got a sharp nerve pain and my fret hand’s index finger locked into a 90° angle. I freaked a little quietly so as not to disturb Mrs. FSB. I could not pull the finger back, but I quickly put pressure on and massaged the hand and arm which, after a brief painful moment, released it. Stroke came to mind only because my meds and condition have that side effect listed, but I dismissed that because my two little fingers had done that some time ago. This was a first for this finger though. It seems that yard work may have something to do with it as I have not had this in the winter as of yet. Along with the gimpy other forearm (still healing), I only hope my Strat doesn’t end up being a wall hanging, I guess that’s my punishment for not practicing. Oh well, I’ll still be able to put a shrimp on the Barbie. :P
A little Blues and more BBQs with a slice of ice cold watermelon just brought to me.
What’s not to like?

FSB

Picked up some Texas Pecan Barbeque sauce at a funky low to high end BBQ store in the neighbourhood. No matter how you spell or like your BBQ, charcoal, gas, indoor, outdoor, food truck or restaurant, deli or (Heavens to Mergatroyd) prepacked, enjoy the season. 8)

We finally watched Game 3 of the NBA Finals. Go Raptors! It's tough for the Warriors to lose KD and Klay Thompson but Thompson should be back for Game 4. I want the Raptors to win but I'd rather see them beat the Warriors when they are at full strength.

Thanks for the BBQ trick, FSB: "Here's a trick I do. Crunch up some tinfoil in your hand and use that in a pinch to remove some grate grunge. Sorry to hear you're having trouble with you fingers, FSB. I hope it's from doing yard work and will clear up soon. Many of us are getting up there in years and we have to treat our bodies a little more gingerly than we used to. It's easy to forget about that when we're in the middle of doing something, though.

I'm going to finish watching "Slash: Raised On The Sunset Strip" and hit the hay.

Thanks, for the kind words, Marky. I appreciate it. This little experience surprised me because it’s an additional finger that caused a problem. Maybe, it’s coincidental. I”ll have to do a little research. That’ll keep me from boredom.
Hope the BBQ tips will be of use. You’re welcome.

I too would prefer that the Raptors take on the full Warrior team. However, imagine if it were the other way around with the Raptors’ best on the bench.
In sports you can stack a team heavy with high roller talent and less depth or high roller talent and equal depth or . . . Well, you get the idea. Plus, there are the coaches and the rest of the team support from management on down. That may or may not show on the court, but it is part of the reason why a great team and great players exist. It really comes down to how you play the game all things being equal. Definitely a team sport that also separates one from the other. That’s if the sport is legitimately presented, I have no reason to believe this championship is not. However, professional baseball, soccer, football, boxing, and yes basketball have a history less than admirable. Hockey is different. It has a rules are meant to be broken approach, and the league endorses it, They’ve even brought in outside referees to change the game, and the results We fans are oblivious, and this series has been and will continue to be entertaining.

The Warriors and Raptors are both fine teams. Plenty of proven outstanding players for the Golden State, but they weren’t always the best, they earned it. Perhaps, it’s the Raptors’ time. A 3 shot is a 3 shot no matter who takes the shot,

Enjoy the games, Marky. Thanks, for beings fan,

Go Raptors!

Looking forward to the upcoming Women’s FIFA World Cup soccer matches too. There’s some history knocking at the gates of rivalry.

I'm going to a doctor for a routine visit and then I have to do some chores.

Looking forward to Game 4 tonight. We're going to watch it live this time. Go Raptors!
