We just got home from a 94 mile round-trip to Phoenix to get some decent Chicago pizza. Yum...

I got to do some errands this morning, since I'll be up, instead of going to bed at that time, at least for a few days.

I'm having trouble getting the sleeves out of the Strat's body for my new 2 point trem. All suggestions would be welcome. :)

Smash it and walk away in disgust. :P What about needle nose pliers? Sometimes, they can help, but I really don't know a hell of a lot about the inner workings of a Strat, though.

Pizza looks delicious, Marky. Mmmm.

As for the sleeves, if I have it correct, which can be seldom, my first thought and success elsewhere, is to put a compatible screw into the sleeve and pull the sleeve out. It can work in some circumstances, but often that depends on the material, threading, and overall durability. This should work similar, but better:

Best of luck with it.

On my last day visiting Vancouver, I had just made a turn to locate on the GPS some parking and a Safeway in a congested area. A brief look in the rear view mirror of our rental SUV revealed flashing lights and a cop car. Obviously, it was for me. I was on a hill and turned off to pull over. I thought it might be an illegal turn or the fact that my iPhone was attached to the dash with a GPS. While I don’t subscribe to it, driving while talking or texting with a phone here in Manitoba is a $2000 fine, plus a lot more accordingly, and it has the highest drinking and driving penalties being that the origin of MADD is just 85 miles to the border. The New Westminster cop did a run on my vehicle and asked for my driver’s licence because none came up on his computer. Once I gave him my out of province licence he became friendly, and I got an apology because he said they have a major problem with rental vehicles, and driver’s with no authentic licences if any at all. We then said our pleasant goodbyes with a smile and off we went. Phew! :D

Last week I heard a report of some driver caught watching a movie while on the road. Whoa! Where do I pull off?! Good thing they weren’t on the mountain roads.

Thanks Paul and FSB for your suggestions and video. I got them out using a claw hammer with a block under it to protect the guitar. I pulled them out maybe half-way because, if I went further, the hammer would pull on an angle and I didn't want to chip the finish. Even with being very careful, I still put a little chip in the finish because the hammer didn't pull straight out. Good thing it's covered by the bridge. I was able to pull them out the rest of the way with a pliers.

Good job with the local gendarme, FSB!

Glad you got the job done, Marky. Best laid plans sometimes go ascrew.

I’ve got a pair of old JBLs with beauty rings that won’t pop out so that I can replace the woofers. The speakers were sent out for repair a long time back, and I think they fastened them in a non stock way and maybe even glued the rings. At any rate they won’t budge and one broke the facing :? I may have to cut the back of the cabs which will be a beech.

Can I borrow your hammer?

I'm going to go for a walk. Later, I'll watch some films, and put in some bass time.

I wound up doing more than taking a walk, we wound up doing some clothes shopping, and I got a couple pairs of nice trousers for pretty cheap, at both Marshall's and TJ Maxx. 8) I also went to the grocery store, so I can put together a chef salad for dinner tonight.

So his one and only reason for pulling you over was what some other drivers did in rental vehicles. He pulled you over for - driving a vehicle that was rented. Yeah, that's not OK. Not a long stretch to go from that to "papers, please". Get a dashcam and post the video next time.

Actually, Ghost it really was no big deal. It was all good, and you’d have to know the territory in Vancouver being a container port, plenty of illegal immigration, offshore and domestic drugs, stolen high end vehicles coming and going with overseas connections, and more. For all I know I may have made an infraction in my hunt for an unfamiliar location. Besides, having worked alongside cops for help with missing persons and other things, in my 20s, after exams, physical training and such, I turned down an offer to be accepted for further Mountie training. Instead of the marine job that I desperately wanted, a hot (and cold) Marauder cop car and a brown bag on a boring flat stretch of Saskatchewan was going to be my home before seeing the water craft. That didn’t excite me enough to hand over my signature, and still I respected the guys that drew that straw. YMMV.
