With printers, I try to get the most simple one that will handle our print, copy needs. A simple printer, for a simple old man.

The Seiko should more than handle any dive needs I may get into any more.

It's about time for me to feed the dog. Get him going for the day.

Good job getting half of it to print right, FSB. My printing needs are very simple so it's one thing that I don't have to tinker with.

I have a lazy day planned so I better get to it.

I did some domestic crap around the house. I doubt I'll be able to go out for a walk, because of the snow.

The printer in question is made by Seiko. Too bad it’s not the build and dependability of their watches.

I'm going to watch a film or two, and put in some bass time.

I never heard of Seiko printers. I replaced a Cannon printer with an Epson. It's working ok. I can't complain very much about Seiko watches, and their workings.

I've given up on cheap printers. I run down to the UPS store/Walgreens w/ a zip drive stick for .25 a page and I'm very happy w/ that.
Although for what FSB sounds like he is doing, it would be a pretty big deal to not have a really good print system that you can tweak to your desired levels. I just picked up a photo enhancing color dye pack for tinting BW photos at an estate sale, it was only a couple bucks. I will probably not attempt to tint photos but it may get used in other projects down the road somewhere and I'd never seen them before.
Just chillin, watching 2013 Crossroads and Gilmore.

Just chillin after a busy day. Thinking about some Strat time but can't decide what to play. Maybe it's time for night, night.

You’ll be able to compare both Seikos, Glenn. Your printer is made by Seiko Epson, with Seiko as the original parent company (which makes sense since timepieces and robotics, amongst other technology, plays a part under both names).

As far as the work I do, my first printer in ‘95 had one cartridge with RGB which was okay for the time; however, one colour running out made the other two useless. The next printer that I scored was a great deal in a six ink printer. I’ve now found that six inks are the minimum to get the full colour process (ie: Pro photos). Although, I am in some respects, and am not a practicing pro, I have held extensive commissioned print work for a major department store in the 90s and, as well as benefiting from my OJT (before popularity of relative tech schools) TV experience with great teachers and mentors, I’ve been responsible for fashion shoots with international agencies and years of daily commercials, plus when it was more of an art form. That said, I prefer the creative amateur title. Last time I looked, professional meant you got paid, not necessarily how good you are.
I’ve used six inks as mentioned for over a decade. Six only comes with pigment ink, which is not cost effective unless that is a marketing
requirement (or preference). YMMV My needs have been reduced, so for the odd occasion, now for pleasure, a better result would be useful. My needs for a lot of text work is less than it was but, whatever one’s choice, ink and print heads do not play well when idle over a reasonable period of time. The ink does expire whether used or not. Fortunately, the new fillabe wells seem to have reduced costs, but with some disadvantages to add to the advantages.

For me? It just comes down to more control; but, not a reason to go the next step. I have B&W prints that I will combine with colour photos for a greyscale conversion to produce a montage, and I hope to come up with a decent B&W grouping for several projects. Time will tell. I could tint them, but that would veer away from my original idea.

I’m not going to use the prints for anyone but myself, and yet it will be nice to have a wide B&W photo or two for my office and family room. It takes a considerable amount of work to do that with an outside printer, and maybe the cost would amount to more to get it right. That’s where it’s an advantage if you can do it at home with trial and error. Still, sometimes, you don’t get what you pay for. But, I digress. That’s pretty common in this day and age, so I’m just expecting something workable, not Yousef Karsh.

Wow! That's a kicker about Seiko / Epson. Ya' never know. I have an older Seiko needle type tuner that I've had for years that still does a great job.

That tuner sounds pretty cool. I always found it interesting how so many well known companies from the Far East were considered competitors amongst each other only to find their shared parts inside. My older Sony, and recent ones, use a Samsung screen but Sony video components. That was a transition holdover from when Sony had the market with Trintrons and such, lost the edge with flat screens, but have now returned to gain attention with their own lineup again.

The best oddity I found was a stock filter can in my engine compartment. It looked familiar other than being painted black on the outside. When I changed the filter I discovered the can was rolled inside out with the Campbell Soup label still painted inside. That was how my ‘73 Honda Civic (one of the first 17 here) hit these shores. Some laughed, but I think they were jealous because they didn’t have this souped up modification. I wonder if Seiko made the clock. :P
Or better still, if Campbell soup now makes Honda’s?!

Tried to get a jump on Spring cleaning today....got so far as peeling the old co-ax of the exterior, tearing down the winters cardboard accumulation in the garage and a little shrubbery weeding. Then it started to rain, it felt good but I gave in after sweeping the garage out. A good head start me thinks, and I will sleep better because of the light workout.

I was cleaning out stuff indoors still downsizing, getting ready for spring because last year I wasn't able to get a lot of my bucket list done which would have brought me to a more relaxed place with very little exterior and yard work except the odd touch up.

Things were going along good and. as I work, I have been playing some half finished or delinquent tapes that I’ve collected over the years. Suddenly, audio dropped out, pops and crackles appeared, and so I paid little notice but made a point of it for addressing a short time later. Then I noticed the playback deck at the other end of the room (away from the receiver) still had good meter levels. Uh oh. Maybe a bad connection. First I switched the source to the tuner. A good signal, even switching stations, showed proper levels that could be seen on the outboard EQ/Expander. However, pops, crackles and lengthy dropouts still occurred? I was checking the connections from the receiver preamp specifically out to the power amp, as the EQ uses a tape output by choice, all of which has worked without a problem. No time to check anything else.

Zap zap! Flash flash! Good size sparks and burnt smell happened on two sides of, thankfully, glass shelving held by metal posts. Before I could isolate the source of the flashes, I quickly pulled plugs to prevent a fire. Good thing, because there was a pause in the action to where I barely saw a whiff of grey smoke exiting the power amp. It stopped almost as soon as it began. Considering the odour, I would have expected more smoke because it was almost none and I had to bend down close to tell. It was also difficult to conclude by smelling close up to the amp after it was removed from the power source. Not typical, but, hopefully a good sign or at least not too bad. The culprit remains on a table to investigate later.

I inherited this amp and media receiver both of which were not in use at the time as my brother had a second system as well. Something not changed caused it, and my guess is a possible tolerance dispute with my speakers since I don’t believe it’s as stable as my early Denon amp which can, for a period, handle 1 ohm (which few amps can). The mystery is, if that’s the case, I’m curious to know why the protection system or fuse didn’t kick in and how it had run so well for months.

Thankfully, the bookcase and wall paneling didn’t catch fire and, fortunately, I was there when the disturbance happened. Otherwise, I may have left the amp on overnight below our bed. When in doubt pull the plug. I beat two fires as a kid, and dealt with them on a WWII ship on it’s last voyage. That’s enough for me, thanks. Although, the last fire gave me unexpected leave in Fort Lauderdale.
