My girlfriend is pretty sick, so I'm doing what I can to help there. Hopefully, I won't catch it, but if I do, I'll just get on it, and knock that crap out. I'm glad we got our flu shots this year, otherwise it could be much worse. That crap will kill you these days.

Hope your girlfriend is feeling better, Paul, Take it from someone who got the flu last year. i
It was the worst to ever hit me. I thought, as usual, that I could beat it by myself. Well, instead it beat me up. I couldn’t lick it on my own (even with help ftom my better half), and there comes a time when most people can’t.

Most home remedies are on the shelf for a reason, and most of those are preventative Dr. Feelgood remedies rather than what is needed when there is a major outbreak or major strain. The sooner the strong and related solutions get a crack at fighting that illness the better the odds.

I waited a few weeks before seeking help. If it hadn’t been for my stubbornness and the lack of beds at the hospitals, they said they would send me home and to come back if I needed to. Three months later the flu left; but, both the hospital’s and my own doctor’s advice said not to put off professional help for any more than 3 to 5 days because that gives them a better chance to combat it.

As with other illness, waiting can get to the point where maybe stronger med’s or worse will be needed, and fighting the bug off is much more difficult, if not impossible. Also, they can diagnose the precise strain and then attack it with not only their experience, but also with current knowledge of the local trending. Besides, they have resources normally unknown or available to you. Other than that it becomes a risky roll of the dice, and the same old same old one size fits all. It can sometimes evolve into, if it isn't already, a changing roto virus. That’s kind of hard to beat with tea and honey and chicken soup. It took a long time, but I finally learned my lesson.
And you are so right, Paul. This isn’t Grandma’s flu that passes around today. Stay safe and well.

Take care you two. Time to get better soon, and time for ice cream or your other favourite treat. Milkshakes pick me up. :P

I hope Jenn feels better soon, too. I agree with you guys. The flus going around today seem to be getting worse. We have to keep ourselves well nourished and hydrated and I think hand sanitizers help when we're in public.

Stay well, my friends. No more flu like last year, FSB!

Thanks. You know, a huge part of prevention is using hand sanitizer in public, and avoid touching your face there, as well. That's how those germs spread, for the most part. That, or someone coughing on you, when they should be home instead. I carry a bottle on me at all times, and we have a big bottle of it in the car. It does make a huge difference.

I'll bet if everyone used it, that would even cut it a lot of sickness in half, if not more. That, and don't go around in public when you are that sick and spread your germs. At least in places like Japan and China, they were those masks over their noses and mouths when they are sick to prevent spreading germs, which wouldn't be a bad idea if that could happen in this country. I guess it would freak people out, I don't know.

That’s so true. Before, it was go to work and no time or desire to to get anything done afterwards except R&R.

When you’re retired things to do find you, and a lot of times your expenses add up to where you might not ask for help, and unless it’s for an expert application, you find it easier, perhaps more suitable and more economical to handle the job yourself. When we lived in a townhouse/apartment we just picked up the phone. The past three days were analyzing and prioritizing months of crank call blockage as it maxed out. So far, pretty good. :D
With a house and a large yard plus estate downsizing, it’s time consuming and often seasonal. Add obligations, responsibility for increasing technical management, teaching and learning media gear, and fixes for smart things (?), superfluous PITA software and hardware changes, and more. All that will get you a priority list with a job jar.
For hobbies, like music I’ve yet to audition and organize records from inheritance plus digitize my collection, and I have delinquent trunks of photos. I thought all of this would have been organized by my 65th. so I could digest the unread library in my mostly non-fiction book case. I just hit a curve in the road that took me elsewhere.

I still have goals to meet with my Strat and the other gear that gets attention; but my easy peasy push button tape decks don’t pass the recording and mixing test these days with the DAWs competing for attention.

I blame Home Depot, computers, and the DIY shows on TV. TV and computers got me into trouble in the first place. :P I thought I’d be finished with all that by now.
Uh, excuse me. I have a ding blasted update to do, Nope! That didn’t work. Dang! There goes another day of not clearing out the emails.

Hope your patient is feeling better, Paul.

I guess just do what you can, when you can, and not worry about it too much. It's not like things that are life and death if they don't happen right away. It seems like trying to digitize and organize media like you have is a full time job in itself.

I think the one problem with attempting that is you're dealing with memories, and those can often lead you to get sidetracked by going down that particular rabbit hole of time. I've had that happen all of the time, where I'll get on a tangent about something, then anything else I was planning on looking into goes out the window.

Luckily for me, I don't have a bunch of stuff I have to deal with like that. We do need to organize the wardrobe room with the various clothes and stage outfits, but that's mainly my girlfriend's stuff. We need to do that just to make it easier to find things, and probably get rid of stuff and donate it, if it's not going to be worn. That should only take a couple of hours, at the most, though. We've been busy with other things to really tackle that right now, mainly dealing with getting ready for the new EP, and all of that.

A little while ago, I just finished doing a four hour online driving school, for a nine miles over the speed limit citation. I missed one question on it. What is your name? Image And let that be a lesson to you!!!

Staying away from the flu pretty well so far. Thanks, Marky. I think my meds help on that. One makes me cough easier, and this year I can breathe better than in recent years. It’s always tough to keep from viruses when the mall and large shopping centres including the grocery stores are your neighbourhood establishments. Plus with so many traveling ethnic groups here, the risks are high. I might stay away on a daily basis; but, eventually I have to share the odds anyhow. But, so do you all my friends. Stay well

I hear you, Paul about collecting memories and stuff. Actually that’s less of a case here though. Mrs. FSB is part of the reason for digitizing. Wanting to get rid of a lot of hard copy and to convert it, she is not very computer savvy, but she is learning, and uses an iPad and phone exclusively. I use Windows and to a lesser amount Apple out of need, and earlier Android now retired. Do I prefer one over the other? Not really, as long as they do the job at hand. Exchange helps in her syncing and managing; but, it’s confirmed that providers and Apple don’t always play nice together, and such is the confirmed case making it more cumbersome right now. :? My plan is to organize our photos and, to some extent, music and files both on and off the computers to make things better in the long run so she doesn’t get left with a mess of crap to dispose of accordingly. No kids to share the workload or memories, so my goal is to make everything easy peasy. That includes having gear information whereabouts and whatnot for passing on for usage need be or not. One filing drawer, separated folders, the minimal USBs, CD and DVD Rom (and maybe the Cloud, but issues there too). Actually, corporations are, questionably, known to still use tape backup as an inclusion. You know what they say about a “bird in hand”. Nothing is for certain anymore. That’s where teaching and learning is difficult. Just when a system or hardware gets the going over, someone has the bright idea to redo it usually for marketing rather than need. For those of us who have a technical ability, still a problem in time wasting, but even more for those who don’t grasp it easily. Remember, these things, as usual, are built by engineers and not the average user. While different players contribute and argue the finer points we are luckily left with whatever does or doesn’t develop and that is usually released before it’s ready.

Me? I just tossed work and school files by the box load. Most of my work was creative, and so it was more of a backup and reference before and after computers; a perfect example of why to and why not to digitize. This week it was, “Goodbye ‘Bowling For Dollars’ and ‘Commonwealth Games Opening’ syndicated production books. Work should all be history in the coming days shortly. School is just a few yearbooks and a school newspaper. Less truly is more. Good less is still pretty good. :D
Whoo hoo! There truly is a light at the end of the tunnel. 8)

Way to go on the driving test Don Garlits. :P
