Well, the LP is coming along. I didn't like the 1st setup(09-42) results and re-crowned/dressed the frets, lowered the nut and sanded the neck/body binding. While working on it, she took her first hit and I took a 1/4" chip out of the corner of the headstock, whilst breaking two panes on the light over the table. All I had for new strings was 10-46's so of coarse I needed to re-start the setup. It's all good and the 10's setup just sounds so much better. A new case should arrive today and I'll follow up w/ a few pics of the final product.
Not a perfect fit, but it doesn't move around in the case.

I not only hate scammers, it became a hobby of mine to get even when and if possible, and I and others had a little success back with Win 3.1, ‘95, and to a lesser extent ‘98; however, I wouldn’t suggest it these days as times are different, and it may be too close to home. Simply do what you can to lessen the blow, and report it.

The LP looks great. Your fret board blends nicely with the body. Seems to fit well with the case and don’t worry about the ding (bummer, but lucky if you can say that) it looks repairable, and when my Strat (when a few months old) fell over untouched with a bang, I was surprised with a minor ding in the head, because the stand was on a carpet, thus toppling forward hitting a stereo rack. :? It would seem that the head would be the preferable area to be damaged as opposed to the body or neck. IMO.

At first I felt like the Grand Canyon appeared on the side of the clear coat head, but now it’s not noticeable unless pointed out which I never do. :P At least the Strat now has character, no cigarette burns, and I know it’s mine. :D
Great satisfaction having the guitar completed, and knowing you made it. Now it needs a name. Congrats!

I just forwarded an email to the authorities. It told me I’ve been split screened watching porno, that my passwords have been hacked, everything I’ve done and do is key logged, and a Facebook cookie is following my move should I contact authorities. There’s more, but that the gist.

I was given 48 hours to pay $595 USD with Bitcoins and there was a link explaining how.

Research says this scam has been around for some time, but it has developed to be more invasive. Some have been asked for several thousands of dollars and some have paid. Sometimes, the email includes a legitimate password of the recipient. Apparently, LinkedIn had passwords hacked earlier and those old passwords got out to where they were bought and sold. Now they are showing up with this and, perhaps, elsewhere. Some will have been obsolete, changed, or are currently in use.

In any case they said, if I didn’t pay, the phoney video with me in it would be handed out to relatives and co-workers, etc. Good luck. My camera is capped and facing the ceiling unless I want it, (phone cam is different), I have no porno activity, and I have no co-workers. That’s cool because the hacker had no Bitcoins from me.

So I go to the neighboring mall today and there in the doorway is a Bitcoin ATM!?

FSB

That stinks, FSB. Sorry you're going through that. You've had a few weird things happen recently like that phony sweepstakes. Why do you think it's happening? Is it all through the same email account?

I'm going to try and watch a couple of movies that I have recorded, and put in some bass time.

You got that right, Marky. it’s so much lately that my answering machine gets a workout screening calls because my blocking is full even with all the various resources available. Wild cards for addresses and numbers have little preventative effect today.

Since getting a new phone from a certain Big Brand store, I discovered a rumour that data is sold and/or passed on, add to that Ma Bell entering the arena with their recent association of my longtime carrier, and being retired all adds to the equation. Other than a purchase of a new phone from a store other than the phone company, and with the same old same old there were no additional changes. The timing of the invasive activity would also support that theory. My provider has been sold to another close to being monopoly that is a huge multimedia player including cellphones and broadcasting, etc. I do little social media so I can't say that is a big contributor. As long as industry makes a buck off the abuse, I don’t see it changing. Maybe, if penalties for contributing to the abusive information were handed out, based on substantial history or new found evidence, they could be found as an accessory to the fact like other legal matters. That might ring a bell. Political connections would find that to be a dead line.

In the past, I did some contact, via the media division, with the head of the federal government computer and phone fraud agency that is our authority here that works closely with law enforcement, and I had a great conversation with the head of the organization. I suggested that we could give the culprits a run for their/our money if we matched them with public service announcements on radio and TV as the scams come into current activity, At the very least, it would inform some directly and by word of mouth to not play the game. Running a news story, print media, and blog only works if the reader chooses to watch or listen specifically. These guys know it, and anything they can’t depend on is one more tool in our defense.

Unfortunately, these guys change their tactics and locations rapidly. However, this same anti-fraud organization had a video documented success last year by going to India and with the Mounties in tow and with the local authorities they raided a huge operation that committed mass fraud for years telling the public they owed money to the CRA (Taxman), and they threatened with arrests at the door as the penalty should the money not be sent. It freaked Mrs. FSB out with a forceful message on the voicemail and, after assuring her, that’s when I contacted the agency. It was so bad that others not related took to the street and then appeared at the door of unsuspecting individuals asking for payment. They got away with it in at least one case, maybe more that were or were not spoken or heard of. Angry recipients have been confronted and accosted locally if in the vicinity of the caller or their associates. Although, this is rare, it has been proven to happen, especially with organized crime involved or someone short a card or two from a full deck.

A takedown with charges and officials from half a world away surprised a great many people in India.

Unfortunately, as successful as it was, the stoppage was short lived and I’ve heard the scam is back; although, it may be a copycat operation.

The criminals are getting smarter and technology works for them. However, in light of the American election process and the part from which technology played an influence, as well as the opposite having some activity as few countries are innocent of skull duggery, I think much more attention will be paid to putting the squeeze on with the law, manpower, trade agreements, and technology.

Still, unplugging from the grid is the only solution. The simple life does have it’s downside, but then again . . . at least without a computer, the next time you get that phoney call about your computer needing repair you can ROTFL. Unfortunately, then you’d miss these posts, comradery, and, perhaps, Perry Mason.

India's economy is not doing well now with unemployment at its highest point in many years. There is no shortage of call center workers no matter how they feel about what they are doing.

We have to be vigilant and protect ourselves with knowledge, technology and common sense. Facebook has been under a microscope since its recent data and privacy issues, at least that's what we are told. However, FB revenues keeps soaring. It posted almost $17 billion in Q4 2018 up from nearly $14 billion in Q3 2018 and $13 billion Q4 2017 and less than $9 billion Q4 2016. The giants keep growing leaving us little folks with few options except perhaps complaining to our Congressmen/women.

You want to hear something really odd? My anti-virus program warned me that Skype "woke up". Skype didn't show up on my on my taskbar or anywhere else. I checked what was running on my computer and, sure enough, Skype was running so I opened it and it was connected and recording my audio and video. The red light on my camera did not turn on! I uninstalled Skype and made sure it was removed from the registry, which it wasn't, and rebooted. What the heck?!?

The irony is “the cat is out of the bag”. Not only did we share the technology for good or bad, we gave it away or it was taken. Much like post war Japan, progression was a natural evolution for China and what was once crap often turned out to be somewhat superior. They changed the marketplace and influenced us. Money and richness of country doesn’t have as much weight as it used to have, both politically and economically. A complete reversal. Take electronics, cameras, and cars for example. Now China (and I suppose to a lesser extent India with both in the space race) has officially said that they will, by leaps and bounds. be the AI leader(s) by as soon as 2021.

Both Canada and the U.S. have brilliant minds in the area of science and technology. Both have reaped the benefits of outsiders joining us. That is no longer a given, and the game has changed to even the playing field. Communication itself has widened and discoveries have found their way to be more in the development or usefulness stage. Today, it’s more why and how than what and where.

Interestingly enough, both China and India have a thriving robust history in motion pictures so shared technology has always been within an arms reach. But, with that and more, they are now sitting on it. We lost the key, and they are about to close the lock, and unless we can find a better lock we may have to find a way to open that door.

Today, I will pass my frustrations on to getting historically known hushed up their unresolved Apple problem with missing email to work. I don’t give up easily, but there are days I wish I could.

I have to remove Mrs. FSB’s account from my phone, but since all three rotten apples are linked it is likely to remove them all with stored info to be restored blah blah,

After two days of research with no real answer in sight, I discovered Siri was looking for what he/she would be a good match to link up. Siri was adding those links in Contacts without my permission (good if you want them I suppose, but questionable as to how and why they appeared to be covert) and I also found a delinquent duplication of servers in my accounts that I had not added. This may or may not be unrelated installation. Perhaps, malware or a virus not found on scans. Can’t say that is the golden egg, but I cracked those issues on my own, and where my usual added emails were in a contact, I reduced them by making separate contact information in a separate contact listing that is renamed with the same individual, but differently written. Voila! So far so good. YMMV Perhaps, others will find this info. of use. My reason for adding it here.

Now I have to remove her two separate email accounts, make both Exchange accounts since one is a pop account, and restore her saved emails. Phew! Will it work? Don’t know. However, there’s some satisfaction that (after years) Steve Job’s outfit doesn’t know either. When I get to Windows 10 will I have less control? Probably. So much for the initial topic, Marky. We have a long way to go.

FSB
Factoid: Incidentally, some years back I heard that India had an OS in the works. I don’t know what became of that. Was it shelved, forgotten, replaced or still evolving? Who knows?

I think that is one reason why the OS will be dumbed down to an online solution for security and ownership.

Here’s an idea. Maybe, hockey will be robots on ice, eh?

Uummm ... look what I just found:

Good luck with your email, FSB. I feel your pain. I recently purchased email software that I really like. Finally something that I can work with that is not part of WIN 10 or Mozilla. I do like Mozilla Firefox browser, though.

Talk about AI. Wow, it is progressing at an amazing rate. I read this article this morning.
