Happy 46th. (47 for us earlier this year). Where does the time go, huh? Congrats to Mrs. Nylon and you too Jello King. I hope you got the works at Taco Bell. :P
Nice that Crimson Tide gave ya a present 58-21 over Tennessee and an 8-0 standing, Your flag must be worn out by now.

I'm having a nice relaxing Sunday. No chores, just fun. I'm going to take a ride in my new neighbors hot rod for the first time. It weighs 1800lbs and has ~750hp. He's going to dyno it this week to see exactly how much horsepower and torque it has at the rear wheels. I wonder if he'll let me drive it. Yeehaa!

I'll get my Strat time in too. I've stuck to my practice/playing plan and have played every day for three weeks. :)

Congrats on your 47. Roll tide. The flags getting a workout, that's for sure. We really didn't go to Taco Bell.

Going to go for a walk, then the store, and put in some bass time, while trying to catch up on some movies I have recorded.

Thanks, Glenn. I was thinking your wedding photos and ours probably have the same funky faded look. In mine I had that greasy hair look.

Nothing special planned for today. My son did chores all weekend so the house is in good shape. I could do a load of laundry, but that's not very exciting.

Layed down the 2nd coat of sealer this afternoon. The 1st coat last touch up spray spit over both pieces :( ended up scuff sanding both pieces. Decided after waiting 24hrs for the 1st coat to dry thoroughly that my kit wood is not anyway near a 5a piece, so it will be the best I can do with it. Not gonna loose any sleep over the small stuff.
I did make the decision to French over the dye on the front, shellac buttons on the way. So, I'll have nitro on the neck-satin and back-gloss. It may look interesting, but that's the new plan-subject to change.

Happy anniversaries to those of you having them.

Do you mean satin on the back of the neck? I certainly appreciate it on the neck, but you may find it less so, and plenty here have had gloss necks for some time.

We went for a walk and and got some KFC, which I don't think we've had in about a year. I have to say, it was pretty damned good, but something I couldn't have all of the time, otherwise, I'd have to increase the walk an extra 6 miles a day. :P Put some time in on the violin bass, too.

Yes, I'm going to satin finish the neck and gloss the back body. My strat has satin, my tele has gloss-poly and I have a heritage hollow body that has gloss-nitro. Either is fine w/ me for playing, I think the gloss may dry a little harder. Like anything w/ this project I'm kinda goin w/ the flow-adjusting on the fly abit, it may end up being all gloss.

Much like I planned on using the tinted aged amber nitro on the 1st couple coats after the sealer, but didn't like that on the sample. Even thought of using it as a sealer but then decided it may allow more dye bleeding over time and making it appear cloudy.
Here is a shot of the neck dyed, filled and sealed:

After dinner, I did a little preventive maintenance on my pistols.

Didn't get much of a walk in today, other than going to the grocery store to pick up something for dinner, because it started to rain, but I did get in some bass time with the violin bass, and watched a movie.

Looks like you’re well on your way. Thanks, for the photo. That’s the crazy thing about wood. No matter how you try, wood has a natural reaction of it’s own that allows you some control, but it certainly is temperamental at times. It’s a thing of beauty when calculated finishes work out better than expected, nice if they meet expectations, and disappointing when they don’t. I find it’s a downer when you’re forced to regroup, and then you look at what options are left after a process has left you with a less than desired start off point from which the hopeful fix is to be applied. I guess that’s why they invented paint, and why you may find other previous unexpected finishes beneath some of those painted axes hanging from the music store walls.
