I’m sure you are aware of what’s called hard gig bags, Paul. Extra padding and more; but, it increases the cost to where gig bags are not always cheaper than cases. Fortunately, I got a gig bag with the Taylor, and it is a soft bag, but well made FWIW. I like the rubber bumpers on the butt of the bag. They help to prevent the bottom of the bag from slipping in a vertical lean, from getting wet or dirty, and from wear and tear. A really good feature. Two zippers around the perimeter and around the front pocket(s) help should one get caught or break. Water resistant pockets speak for themselves. If you plan to busk or transport the acoustic more than me, a hard gig bag would not be a bad investment if it meets your budget. You might strike it lucky. Levy’s (the Winnipeg strap maker) has a beautiful crocodile leather gig bag that is seen to be over $1000 out the store. Kinda funny because we don’t have any crocs here. I certainly wouldn’t leave that out of sight.
Fortunately, there are some good deals out there. I’d look at the stitching, if possible, which helps to indicate, but not confirm, better quality. IMHO. Other than that recommendations from real world testing helps, and reputable brands. I’m sure you know all this, but others may not so I add these tidbits.

I see that Ibanez makes a couple of suitable bags for your bass, and lots of other options are out there. Have fun shopping.

Thanks, for your earlier encouragement, Paul. I’d trade toques with you any day.

You are right that playing traps can be a good workout, but like any exercise you have to push the envelope. Sometimes I’ll jam to Rock with Santana & Buddy Miles Live or Funk with Michael Jackson, but if I really want to get to a sweat I’ll jam with a big band like Rich, and burn down with Sandy. :D The only thing missing is a vibrating belt around my tummy, because slapping the skins doesn’t do a thing for the tummy. Hmm? Maybe, I can work with that and come up with a way to sell a solution on the Shopping Network. Think about it. People spend a fortune on exercise machines. Why not have fun and learn something for life. A cheap set or used set of drums and exercises = books and videos = $$$$

Back to reality.
Then, after a workout on the traps, if I need to chill down some more I’ll grab the Strat. and get mellow with the Blues or Surf. Sometimes, a total workout gives me some incredible mojo that I can’t explain. Maybe, because my head and emotions are free from the world around me. I don’t know. The vibes are definitely different.

I did see an Ibanez gig bag that looked pretty good, and was around $45. It looked at lot more sturdy that the really cheap ones, which I'm going to try to avoid. The problem with those, is often the zippers might break on them, and then they'd be pretty much useless after that. That's my one main concern. I also measured the total length of the bass is around 38" or 39", so I'd be definitely looking more into acoustic guitar bags, instead of the bass ones, since those would be longer, since they typically have longer scales.

The one thing I've noticed about when you start getting into better shape, it does elevate your whole outlook on a lot of things. You start to feel better, for the most part, and not as confined. At least, that's how I've felt with it.

For a second there, it sounded like you were getting ready for the literal thing, instead of the film. :P

No, it's just the way it worked out. Going through the .45ACP parts, is a whole different thing than loading mags, and going to "Condition One". Image

Going to go for a walk, and some shopping, then Chinese takeaway for dinner.

I'm going to go for my long walk today, then stop by the grocery store to get something for dinner, then jam out for a bit on the bass while watching a movie. I'm going to be playing on the Ibanez acoustic bass today. I need to start getting acquainted with that one.

I’d rather be practicing, playing, and recording today. I’ll make up for lost time soon when I can kick back like the prairie farmers with snow on the field.

Meanwhile, for the first time in months I am taking the lawn mower job back from my terrific wife who subbed for me when I couldn’t manage it. Should be interesting. I’m actually looking forward to it, and I can add cutting the lawn to my walking exercise, plus I don’t have to play mall rat with my wallet. :D

I finally was able to plug the Ibanez acoustic bass into the Fender Rumble amp, and everything seems to work and sounds pretty good. 8) Now the only thing I'll have to do eventually is find some sort of gig bag for it. Cases are too damned expensive for me right now, so that would be better than nothing.

This one looks really nice for $24.99. Have fun!

It's supposed to be nice weather tomorrow, so I'm going to go for a long walk, put some bass time in, and I'm planning on watching a movie I have recorded on the DVR. That's the plan, at least.

Did my walk while our 14 lb. turkey was roasting in the oven (no dressing/stuffing . . . it’s for weight loss wraps). Finished the walk, and with help from my better half I carved and divided the turkey into a dozen plus baggies for later use as required.

Then I watched a movie and, after reading the Forum, I’m calling it a day.

“a day” :P

I made a commitment to myself, over the weekend, to play/practice daily. I have a practice schedule setup up for the next year. Yesterday, I got in four 20-30 minute sessions. I don't think I'll be able to do that every day but, if I get in one good session a day, I'll be happy.

I just started my second cup of coffee and, when that's gone, then I'll be playing. :D

Ever since I left a job with schedules and working with the clock, stop watches, counters, and time code I decided that unless it was absolutely necessary my day would not be scheduled or compromised by worrying about what time it was.

However, I’m with you, Marky. I have decided to set up a schedule for guitar practice, and to set up a schedule for tweaking and dickering with gear, and a day or two to record and post produce. I need to do that, because I usually do what I set out to do if I make a point of it. The problem I find is that one schedule usually requires or presents others to follow.

So much for Utopia. :P
