Very cool site, Paul. Some good options there for sure, thanks. Mickey Hart of the Grateful Dead influenced me as it was early on when I discovered his famous interest in the coolness of world instruments and culture. At about the age of 8, I had 16rpms with African music, and my father added to the world collection overtime with his travels including pop and rock. Still, I didn’t start an instrument collection because it’ll get away on ya, and drummers are notorious for collecting. Guitars are more manageable and there’s never enough, but at least you can find them when you want. As for the strings mention I pretty much fudge it now.
It’s so much fun to have guests, family, and friends join in to play along. Even simple shakers, cowbells, sticks, Cajon, and what not keeps everyone involved.

My last trip to Vancouver had me bring back a small washboard that sat in a corner during a move for my mom. It looked lonely, and though I didn’t have an immediate need for it, I now have it in my corner waiting for a call. :D It may come in handy for recording. Maybe, I’ll experiment with backward recording. I was schooled in a few other tricks like cowbells and water, brake drums and screw drivers and so on. I think it started with pots and pans. :P
Check this old timer out. I think he’s ready for the Newport Jazz Festival.

Sitting outside on the patio for the first time in a while. Eating sammie’s, drinking ice tea, reading what the gang has posted on the Forum(s), and listening to Suavecito and Wicked As It Seems by Keef.

87° and a nice breeze. Life is good. :D

Pretty cool video. 8) I used to be in a band that rehearsed in this building that had a junk shop (I guess you could call it that,) in one of the rooms, that the drummer either worked for, or just knew the guy that owned it and let him play there, and one time we went through there to look around at all of the stuff, and came across a washboard, banjo, and a ukulele, so we had an impromptu jam with those instruments. The drummer played the washboard, the guitarist played the banjo, and I played the ukulele. To be honest, I had no clue what I was doing, since at the time, I didn't even know how the thing was even tuned, but then again, the guitarist didn't know anything about banjos, either. We were sort of just winging it. :P

Sometimes, you can find old songbooks online. There's a store called Elderly Music that's in Michigan that sells a lot of old sheet music and things like that, besides instruments. I don't know how well that would work that you're in Canada, though. https://www.elderly.com/instruments/col ... rder=price

I bought a couple of things from them and they are nice to work with. Good suggestion, Paul.

About your junk room jam, Paul. That’s awesome. Sometimes we forget about what music is about. We tend to take things too seriously at times; but, there are reasons for that too. Music is meant to be fun, and free form silliness sure is fun. :P Once in awhile even that can turn out substantial creativity. Ask the Beatles.

For sure. Maybe a little flanging, and a 1000 watt stack, :P

You never know what you can find in some thrift store or shop like that, if there's even one around. Speaking of a 1000 watt stack, I have one, albeit for bass. :P
