You know, there's a hell of a lot of work that goes into making any sort of professional video, even 30 second TV commercials. Those green screen things are pretty cool, though.
Yup, on all of that. I was a commercial director through much of my career. and the only one for 8 years in our company; but, I was also responsible for variety programs, until the money losing low cost News took over and incorporated dumb downed entertainment (like interviews, trailers, mass promotion, and the like) in local media to get those longed for ratings. It worked!

We once setup a full studio with kids and Hot Wheels and tracks for Mattel which was a lot of fun, and there was a time when blue screens ruled; but, partly because blue was and is a popular clothing colour (amongst other things), green screens became the norm. I can remember experimentation with yellow screens (other colours can work with varying responses), but that didn’t last long. Telling someone not to wear blue in front of a blue screen is like telling someone not to wear lines to prevent moire. http://www.mathematik.com/Moire/

Britain historically advanced the high end music videos with groups like the Beatles, Bowie, and progressive rock
Supergroups to be brief. They still hold a reputation for their work causing many groups from this side of the pond to show up there.

A great and adaptable crew is key, but hours and timelines are brutal. The glamour can wear thin sometimes, especially with clients (even music video ones) that want champagne production on a beer budget. Creative simplicity can be your friend at times. Just like with music, a feeling of accomplishment when things gel as planned are a natural high that gets you through to the next challenge with the next team. :D
Pretty talented girlfriend, Paul. Sounds like a keeper.
Glad things went well, and it’s great that a good time was had by all.

Keep rawkin’.

FSB

Thanks! 8)

Interesting tidbit on the moiré effect, FSB. I did not know what it is so I looked it up. Thanks for the info, FSB. Here's the definition that I found:

"When odd stripes and patterns appear in your images, this is called a moiré effect. This visual perception occurs when a fine pattern on your subject meshes with the pattern on the imaging chip of your camera, and you see a third separate pattern. (This happens to me a lot when I take a photo of my laptop screen)."

I never knew what caused that. Now I do. :)
Good definition, Marky. Glad the info was helpful. Sometimes, if you are very lucky, you can minimize the problem with the angle to the dangle.

One of the most difficult images we had a problem with was with colour tubes and televising an African Canadian in a solid white martial arts kimono. A little creative soft lighting helped, but it was still a compromise. Today’s chip technology has made leaps and bounds in that area, but introduction came before it was ready (including lag).

Going to go for a walk, then probably do some grocery shopping.

I had my guitar tech hat on today. I put new strings on my Strat and meticulously set up my SG lowering the action as much as possible. I tinkered with amps and settings getting a nice new mellow tone. Now it's time to call it a day.

Well, first I made several versions (compressed and uncompressed plus lossless) of a music file. The files at the low end were not big, but the normal and lossless files could not be handled with email one at a time? Video - I get it. But, the business of sending a reasonable 3 to 5 minutes of audio with or without compression seems like a reasonable business plan to me considering that the providers’ offerings are generally far from those of yesteryear, and the subscription costs more.

Then we get to iOS that requires third party involvement to open attachments such as MP3. Hmm? Something crazy about that, but depending on the circumstances, it’s just one more cog on the wheel that gets stuck transferring a file from email if it can be emailed.

I’m sure there are better ways available, but I fail to see why this shouldn’t be included as standard affair. It’s probably the most used application aside from Facebook and Twitter (The Web aside).

Oh, and I successfully sent a 25 MB video file today and yet a 21 MB limit gave an alert for a music file?

Played the Ibanez bass plugged in the Fender Rumble, and watched a Led Zeppelin concert on YouTube. Pretty much that's it, other than some laundry. It was raining today, so I didn't go for a walk.

A friend stopped by today for a two hour visit and then I took a three hour nap. Time to play my Strat and chill out.

Went to the dentist for a biannual checkup. Walked away with a new toothbrush, a small bill, and another appointment. I think they like me.

I had some cold, leftover pizza for breakfast (a tradition of mine :P ) and I'll probably go out for a walk to burn that off. I'm not sure what else I'm doing right now other than that.

I'm getting back on the regular daily routine, after getting back from Alabama. I really like Alabama. Nice folks, and beautiful land.

Not to mention a nice daughter and a great college football team.
Right now I’m eating fettuccine Alfredo and sipping a large for real ice cold lemonade after having cut the lawn and spreading fertilizer in the anticipation of tonight’s rain.
