That's a great story, Paul. Thanks, for passing that along. I know someone who will appreciate that history. I have a cousin who did full time lighting for Celebs and The Royal Winnipeg Ballet. He still has connections, and maybe he can help. On second thought, those boots for the Beatles were probably not cheap then, and I bet they would be even more now with inflation.

Boy! Things have changed from British leather work to Chinese exported shoes. They're probably available Online though.

Cheers!

I used to wear Beatle boots. I thought they were really cool. 8)

I used to have a pair back in 1999, but I have no clue what happened to them. They weren't anything elaborate, though. The main problem I have with shoes is finding my size, since I wear a wide 13. Usually the problem is finding the wide width.

That's what my son wears and he has the same problem. I wear a 12W and it seems much easier for me to find shoes.

Before I landed my longtime career I did a stint in a shoe store. Back then 13s and wide were rare for men and almost non-existent for women. A lot of cops were big fellas and many of the shoes that worked were either British or Brazilian and they were not cheap, but well made. If I recall Western and ‘cycle boots were sometimes an answer for those who were inclined. In the Middle East one can step on a used tire and have the treads cut around your foot where they will end up being your flip flops. I’m guessing wide shoes are not that common coming out of the Far East, but then again I guess the Sumo wrestlers are into sandles. :P

It can be a hit or miss with finding that size, but at least with the internet, there's a ton of options out there. There are also specialty stores, but unless they have sales or deals, that can be $$$. Well, at least I don't have to pay extra for "big and tall" or "extended size" trousers anymore, since I've lost weight. Shoe size, there isn't much you can do about, as far as that goes. I will say, my feet did shrink a bit in the width department, when I lost weight, but I'm still 13 in length. I think I might have a high instep, I'm not sure.

I'm about squared up getting a desktop computer going to replace the old laptop I was using, that just got old, and worn-out.

I'm going to go to the gym later (I'm on a weird schedule right now, but eventually will be on days for a bit, I think,) then I might track some bass lines for some new material that my girlfriend is writing. She decided to put out a full length album this time (we put out a 5 song EP at around last fall,) with 9 songs on it, plus there will be videos and live dates (which at least one that has been booked.) It's going to be a busy year. I'm going to be on at least 4 of the 9 songs, and she also plays bass, but not live. She doesn't like to be strapped to an instrument live.

I don't know about desktops (I stopped using those years ago because I needed something portable, since sometimes I might stay at other locations for a time,) but you can get a pretty decent laptop cheap these days. My girlfriend just had to get a new one, since the keyboard on her old laptop started screwing up for some reason.

Enjoy your new desktop computer, Glenn. That’s always exciting. :D
I was looking at some new laptops today at one of those designer stores whose name is a household brand.

Well, that didn’t get me reeled in because the difference between the current processor version and the earlier one was over a grand in Canadian moola. The earlier version came in at over two grand, and I’ll admit it was stylish and thin with an over hyped screen. I don’t buy into the $2500 - $3500 laptop for bragging rights that can be matched in many features and surpassed in others for half the price.

I’ve worked with dedicated computer equipment throughout my life, and they cost thousands for older technology, but they were truly unique.

It’s not only that these laptops are über expensive for what they are, but the lesser ones in the lineup are questionably priced IMHO. YMMV

I seem to remember a time when computers across the board had a major drop in price. Yes, there are deals to be found, but current models seem to have taken a fork in the road as Carson would have said.

I’ve built desktops, but laptops are outa my league.

That sounds pretty good. I haven't been in a Waffle House since I moved from Florida 15 years ago. There aren't any around these parts. I used to go there late night, after gigs or from a club back in the day, since they were 24 hours.
