I’m going to do a little work around the house and if I get through early, I’ll attempt some wall art for the family room/studio. If not today. Maybe tomorrow or the next. Nothing major. I bought some frames bordered and not bordered to insert some writing, photos, and an attempt of a 78 RPM of Buddy Holly’s Rave On. If that works, I’ll do a 12 inch 78RPM from my collectables. It is all black embossed with paisley, RCA, and Little Nipper. I have a Beatles’ 45 RPM with a Spanish label, unusual in these parts, and it may find it’s way to the wall alongside some other audio/video paraphernalia like my Fender Strat sign and minimal broadcasting art. I also have a box of very old sheet music that I inherited and have yet to go through. My goal is to dress up some 70s wood paneling dressed with the cop chasing Chicago poster; but, I don’t want to be silly about it. It’s called motivation for creating. Sort of like Rush’s toy era or Arthur C. Clarke’s den. :P

We found out just the other day, our daughter has been accepted into the University of Alabama, (Roll Tide) for her two year graduate degree in vocal performance.

Thanks Paul. It's great, she turned down the Boston Conservatory to go to Alabama.

That’s so terrific proud Dad. Happy for you all. I was wondering how your daughter made out, but I didn’t want to put a curse on the matter just in case. I just finished some blue jello and whipping cream. I’ll call that a toast to the new recruit of Alabama. Boston’s loss Alabama’s gain, I know she’ll do well. My best to her, Glenn. :D

Thank you, she has finally found a program that is geared for her talents. Jello's all around.
So now,......... I have to get an Alabama flag for the front of the house. That will piss off the guy on the corner of my block. He flies an LSU flag, and a house on the other side of me down the block flies a U of Florida flag. ROLL TIDE!!!

I think I'm going for a walk after breakfast, and check the usual social media. Our gig has been postponed an extra month from now, so I don't have to worry about dealing with that last minute. At least there's more time to try and promote things and get extra rehearsal in.

Just finished my breakfast and I'm thinking about going for a walk before I put in some serious bass time today. It's sunny out, and it's not raining or snowing. Might as well take advantage of it.

Sitting here as thunder storms move through the area. The Tornado warning is just about over. Now just thunder storms doing their thing.

OK, I've made the decision that, even though it's an excellent bass, and sounds killer, that I'm going to dump my Squier Precision, either by trying to sell it, or perhaps trade it. With the value of what I think I could get for it, I'm going to get a short scale bass. I have two in mind that are in the price range of what I can get for the Squier, and that's all I can do. I won't have, or 95% likely not to have any more funds to get something more expensive, say like that Fender Mustang bass they have out now. I'd love to, but I have to be realistic about that. Now I have to to decide on one of the two models I have in mind, although there's always the possibility of something else might come out of the works, within that price range, and the features I require.

The reason I'm even doing this in the first place, is I've been playing on my short scale violin bass full time, and I'm completely used to that neck now. I tried to playing the Precision a while back, after not playing it for a month, and after playing it for several hours, I had muscle aches in my hand and arm. I mean, I could get used to playing it again, but then I'd have to not play the violin bass to do that, and I just don't want to do that right now. It's light weight, really fast neck, and I love the tonality of a hollow body bass, especially with the flats on it.

I'm just thinking logically that I should have another bass that has a similar neck to it, so it's not as much of a transition to one instrument to another, if needed. The violin bass also has a certain fragility to it, being essentially like an acoustic instrument, so a backup would be a wise idea. Another thing, I also play guitar, so the short scale bass neck is comparable to a guitar neck, which also makes that transition between the two a lot easier, especially in a live situation.

I'm just trying to consolidate everything and make my life simpler. Another thing, I also have slight Ulnar nerve damage in my left arm, so the short scale does help that out a lot. It puts a lot less wear and tear on my hand, and I don't have to warm up as much when it acts up, which also helpful in a live situation.

Paul, I think you have come to a very logical and well-thought-out decision. It makes perfect sense to me especially since you are experiencing ulnar nerve problems. Enjoy your hunt for a new bass! :)

I agree Paul. It almost sounds like Tennis Elbow in your left arm. That nerve runs the entire length of the arm, into the wrist, and into the pinky part of the hand. You may try wearing a light arm support brace like bowlers wear.
I gave up on the neck size of the Precision, and I'm playing great with a Mustang, and Jazz size necks. if you're doing good with a short scale, go for it.
