I think it would be amazing if you could get the blueprints and a detailed history of your house. It would be so cool to learn about who lived there and what conditions were like. Is there any chance that you could find those records in your Town Hall? Maybe you could Google something like, "history of (your address)". It might be worth a shot.

I wish I could offer you some advice on your electrical problem but I know very little about that. Your idea of putting some kind of ground on it and FSB's suggestion of putting something inline both seem reasonable to me. I wish you the best of luck with it.

Oh, I've done that and found a few details. We do have a historical society here, with a museum and all of that. I've never been to it, though.

Thanks, Paul for the historic trip through your district. I love that stuff.

I went to school with kids whose families were descendants of Champlain’s group who, in 1605, established the first European establishment north of Florida in 1605 at Port Royal, Acadia (a stone’s throw away from Annapolis Royal, Nova Scotia where a British Fort Anne was established and fought over many times after its establishment in 1710 and again original descendants, although few, remain.

I mention this because, aside from typical grave sites, as kids we would sometimes run across old grave markers in all sorts of areas. Reading them was difficult to say the least as time, material, or craftwork often did not help. It was still a thrill wondering if it was a soldier, explorer, rum runner, farmer, or perhaps a pirate. Rum runners’ graves were often easy to tell because of a conch shell by the grave which was brought back from the Caribbean where loved ones or friends would place flowers as in a vase.

We got them through out the city, including a large cemetery that has some signers of the Declaration Of Independence buried there. There's one small plot in next to a road between a Howard Johnson's hotel, and shopping center, which have the dates they died around 1800. A little bit down the road there is a large area that I think is some sort of farm, so I suspect the land around there was something similar before it was developed and they didn't mess with that tiny plot of land where the grave site is.

Very cool, Paul. Sure a big difference from the later sites in the Midwest and prairies, but still a far cry from old country burials, speaking of which I don’t know if you heard about the newly discovered rooms just found in the Great Pyramid of Giza which is the oldest Wonder of the World still intact, and it was thought that that everything that could be found was already the case. Maybe we’ll get some more surprises.

Well, today is Christmas Day. Make lots of memories and have a great one, Paul.

Who knows how much stuff that's still undiscovered out there, still buried under thousands of years of sand? I've watched a lot of documentaries about that, and the other pyramids in South America, especially that show "Ancient Aliens." They might actually be on to something with that, and those being built.

I just got back from my walk and I'm going to get Chinese later for dinner. It's about the only place open, but then again, that's where we usually go, anyway. I've read the weather report and it's apparently going to get really cold, with temps going down as low as 3 degrees, but one weather report says one thing, and the other says another. I think the best one to go with is the National Weather Service, which is government, and they don't have to sensationalize the weather with extra doom and gloom reporting to get people to stay tuned in for ratings, which I've noticed that the local news has a tendency to do. :P

It's pretty cool having a daughter that may actually perform in the Met someday. My wife, and I never steered her to sing classical opera. She made the decision on her own.

THAT'S COLD!!!! I know what you mean about the local News/Weather sensationalizing everything for RATINGS! I use the National Weather Service, Hurricane Center for that time of the year. Keep warm bud.

I'm watching MNF, as I'm somewhat reflecting on Christmas, and 2017 about out the year here. I survived 2017, so that's ok. Image

I know that 3 degrees can be cold in your neck of the woods, Paul. I’ll make you feel better, though.

I just drove home from the relatives’. I needed to put on snow boots to keep my feet from freezing in -26 degrees. I warmed up the car before sitting inside, but one needs to make sure there's enough fuel in the tank both for warming up and for driving. Upon arrival at home I plugged in the car’s block (engine) heater to a post outlet, and tarped the front and back windows to ease the odds of scraping ice off of them later. I’ve had nice garages in the past, and stuck or snow frozen garage doors at times. This lack of a garage can work fine as long as I remember to plug the car in, and more importantly remember to unplug the extension cord before backing out of the driveway.

Packing and unpacking the car of items in -26 degrees after the covering and hookup is always a treat, especially if you have to make several trips, hopefully, before you freeze your ears, nose, and fingers. A good scarf, maybe a toque, and layering is the key to comfort in the cold. IMHO Gloves can work or not work and they can get wet or restrict warmth of fingers from lack of lining at the tips or not enough movement and circulation that mitts can often provide. Similarly, make sure the warm socks allow movement for the toes.

A good pair of woolies are a consideration that many overlook. As a kid I remember wearing flannel lined jeans on the east coast. I haven’t seen them for years, but I think L.L. Bean carried them at one time.

The best part is entering that cozy warm house afterwards. :D
Keep warm, Paul, and don’t let those digits freeze. You’ll need ‘em for your bass(es).
