I just finished using the elliptical machine and now having some green tea. The weather is to crappy outside, but at least we still have power (knock on wood.) There's lot of people inland that don't, according to the news reports. I also put in another hour on bass, this time with the hollow body violin bass. I've been gravitating towards the Precision Bass more than anything. I love that bass.

I can say somewhat the same thing about the Precision I have too. At least before I brought the Mustang PJ in. At this time, my older fingers are a bit more appreciative of the shot scale. The eight pound body of the Mustang is the lightest bass I have. There are times though, when it does feel good to stretch my fingers out a bit while playing on a long scale.

I know what you mean, since I do have the violin bass, with a short scale. Although, I have to admit I'm really adjusted to the neck on the Precision Bass, even though it's a little wider than either the Jazz Bass, or the violin bass. There's something about it in the way I can hang on to it and dig in. It's a real riff machine, in that sense. I can see why it, and an Ampeg are a classic combo for a rock and roll bass sound.

Yeah, I mentioned Ampeg, because my girlfriend wants to get an Ampeg amp, and I have to agree with her. It's just a matter of having the funds to do so, since I think the best one for us to get would be an SVT 7 Pro, since it's pretty comparable with the Orange Terror Bass 1000, with the specs, which I'm not going to get rid of. It will be just another tool to use, like you have different basses, so why not different amps?

Also, I really don't want to mess around with an all tube head, for many practically reasons, mainly the extra weight, cost, and tube maintenance, which also factors in with the cost. Sure, the all tube is the classic thing to have, but I like what I've heard with the hybrid stuff to where I don't think it's a massive difference, just like the Fender Bassman variants. They have pretty much the same preamp in all of that, which is where I think most of you sound comes from, anyway.

The Ampeg SVT-7PRO is a top flight 1,000 watt amp. I would prefer it over the other Ampeg SS heads.

Second round of snow removal. By the end of Winter I should have arms like Popeye and Schwarzenneger.

Snow removal already? That's something that I always look forward to each winter. :P Actually, I heard that we may get a milder winter this year, or at least down these parts. One can only hope.

It does seem like the logical choice, compared to the Orange that I already have, and the price range. Besides, as cool as an old school SVT might be, do I really want to haul that thing around and worry about the extra tube maintenance?

Those tube heads can be a PITA!!! There are SS heads that have that Preamp on the front that have a real tube head sound. The GK MB Fusion 500 has three 12AX7 Preamp tubes.

Aw, you’re Just trying to make me feel better. Paul. Actually, I hope all of you south of the border get a break from Mother Nature this winter. You’ve all had your rough year, and I know how bad it can be in the northeast along the Atlantic coastline in winter. Add a lot of other areas along our border too. Thankfully, I live in a city that, perhaps, is the best experienced and supported for severe winter. If we run out of snow plows, we bring out the dozens of Zambonis and ride the polar bears.
Where’s my toque?

That's a nice amount of tubes for the preamp. The Orange has two, from what I remember with the specs. I've never tried to open it up and take a look.

Yeah, you can also strap on a pair of snow shows to get around. :P You just reminded me, I need to go and get a new toque hat before the weather gets colder around here. With the winds that can happen around here, my regular cap would go flying off my head when I go out for a walk. Toques generally stay put.
