We do one point with a kick and two conversion otherwise (which was added by AFL 1960-69, CFL from the 3 yard line in 1975 but limited use until recently), 1994 from the 2 yard line for the NFL.

The biggest difference is that our field is bigger 110 yards long and 65 yards wide. There are 3 downs instead of 4. All of that makes size to speed ratio different. A lot of our players play both leagues. It has been said by them that the difference is, when playing in the States, when you get hit it’s like being run over by a tank. In Canada you get hit by a locomotive because there’s more field to run with. At one time Canadian balls (once made by Spalding) were bigger (CFL signed players in the States would be sent balls to get used to them before arriving here), but today the balls are identical (Wilson). There are, however, minimum and maximum inflated specs. Canadians generally prefer the max while Americans the minimum. Same inflation is identical. The CFL 40 - 50 yard field goal (with less downs to get in closer range) is typical for kickers when it comes down to a crunch. Some will do more, but not many.

I like both games having grown up with college ball, Army Navy games, and Vince Lombardi days, and being born in one of the original team towns Hamilton (with Montreal, Toronto, and Cambridge/Boston (Harvard), that began football in 1864, and the Hamilton Tiger Cats is the only CFL team to have beaten an NFL team. Ticats over Buffalo Bills. The Ti-Cats had the first pro African American quarterback (Bernie Custis) in 1951. Today I live in Winnipeg, home of the most Grey Cup appearances (24), and Bud Grant was coach here prior to his coaching the Vikings.

Although, viewership for NFL swamps the CFL, recent surveys say American viewers are 1 in 10, increasing (pretty good considering U.S. population is ten times more), and were it not for running similar airtime for live games, there would be a larger interest. We don’t have the depth or population, but we did have Warren Moon (Edmonton Eskimos), Doug and Darren Flutie (Hamilton), and some pretty good others well known south of our border, including my team that just added one of U.S.A.s best of the year college and pro coaches ever. June Jones.

Rumour is receivers will be taller in the future. We’ll take the shorter ones to add to our tall ones. They’re slippery and it’s fun to see them run the distance with less downs.

The CFL? Try it. You’ll like it. :D

I’ve never seen a football game that I didn’t like unless my team lost.

Laundry, then my walk later. Yesterday, I did some serious jamming on both my Precision and my violin bass, more so with the violin bass. I'm trying to come up with something related to the 60's side project we have going on, so I'm trying to tap into that vibe with the sound.

Getting ready for a nice day with my son. We have two appointments then some lunch and shopping. It's a beautiful 77/25 and partly sunny morning.

I'm sitting here at the computer, enjoying the peace , and quiet in the house this morning. My wife, and daughter are sleeping in, along with the two dogs. Image

Peace and quiet is a nice thing, Glenn. I’m on the opposite end of the spectrum.

I’m moving things around and that includes an inherited 6.1 channel receiver setup, cables under carpet, up and around bends from audio and video gear at a distance. The thing is, I don’t know if it will work until hooked up. So I’m looking, hopefully, for lots of noise once it’s done. :P

Meanwhile, on the older stereo, I cranked several ELP, Neil Young, Guthrie, Stones, Beatles, Creedance, Supertramp, Moog, and other LPs that came with it. Helps to speed the process or at least makes it seem so. If the system works out, I’ll probably be ready for peace and quiet.
Love the cool gif, Glenn.

Dinner was just delivered by a local Italian restaurant. Chicken Parmigiana, pasta and garlic bread, yum.

I just finished a chicken curry from the local Chinese joint and now I'm catching up on the usual internet crap and listening to the Rolling Stones back catalog in chronological order. I haven't listened to any 60's British Beat music in a while, so it's about due. :P

Youse guys made me hungry so it’s dried ribs with a side order of BBQ sauce, French fries and side order of Mayo instead of ketchup due to the BBQ sauce on the ribs, chocolate peanut butter ice cream with chocolate peanut butter cups, and lemonade to wash it down. I know it’s not all healthy, but someboby’s gotta do it.
