All ready did the walk this morning. It's a nice day, today. The weather is a little cooler and drier, at least. I think this weekend is going to be crappy with rain, though. I'm just chilling out right now, then figure out the rest of the day.

Either way, I'll have the bass track finally finished for it. I'll also be using what I call the "Magic Box," which is my MXR M-81 Bass Preamp/DI pedal, that I picked up a couple of years ago. It does a hell of a job recording bass, I think.

Nice!

Break a leg!

I was doing some jamming on the P Bass earlier and got a chicken curry from our local Chinese joint, otherwise know as our second kitchen. :P There's been a few things that came up, so the recording session might have to wait until at least Sunday. I'm still practicing whenever I can, though.

I've noticed an odd thing with the P Bass, I play it a little differently than I would the hollow-body. Nothing too drastic, but I guess different instruments can cause you to do that, sometimes.

Listening to Rush Limbaugh, very interesting.

Just finished a BBQ chicken pizza after completing a sidewalk repair and paint job.

Just about set for Winter that will bring cold snow and hot guitar tunes (I hope). Looking forward to more time to develop and record.

I don’t see any miracles lurking in the shadows, though. :P

———————————————

That said, I believe that some may not know when their performance or song is good, but they know when it is bad. I tend to be hard on myself because I am blessed with fans from friends and family, and I think they are either biased or suffer from a lack of educated musical taste.

I often play a nearby keyboard when my PC is updating or doing some other lengthy operation that doesn’t require my hands or attention. To kill some wait time, I spontaneously played my keyboard a few weeks ago and, I don’t know if this has happened to you, but for me, I was playing something by ear with more skill than I could fathom. It was as if someone or something was guiding me!? My wife came to listen, and she was in awe as I was. She still talks about it. The sound was like I had doubled my ability, and that I had always known how to play this first time self made composition at that level. It’s hard to explain. I kinda freaked in a happy but scared way.

Sadly, I did not record it. Even worse, I’m not sure if I will be able to reach that performance again. It’s hard to explain, and, perhaps, even harder to believe. I know it was not a normal progression. I only hope there will be a next time, and that it will be recorded. If not I will sadly have to be satisfied with that limited performance.

Having the same with the Strat would be even sweeter.

I just finished fixing the deadbolt on the front door. It just had to be retightened. No big hammer needed for this job, maybe next time brute force will be needed!

Waiting for friends to show up. Then we’re going to a local brew pub where we will find this summer’s provincial first place award winning burger (An annual contest held in each of 10 provinces. Limited gourmet and everyday burgers included). Lucky for me the winning burger is down the street, and it will be the second one for my belly. :D
We were going to take in a concert with Miranda Lambert and Brandy Clark tonight when, as I write this, we got notified the concert was suddenly cancelled. No problem. We can always find a way to burn up a Saturday night.

I’m discovering how many musicians associated with each other from my high school and hometown in the 60s worked together, and made the big time after I left town. I should have hung around.
Briefly, Chilliwack’s present drummer Jerry Adolphe came from my school and worked with Roberta Flack, Taj Mahal, Booker T. Jones, and many other celebs. Prior to that he played in a band with my very good friends and classmates in a successful local band called The Marquis.

Another guy who worked, prior to my start, at the local TV station, played in my favourite rock band that was hired by my high school. I only met him 20 years later. I did not know that association until now, even though we know each other through work. Story goes in 1966 his following band went to England and, as many bands did in the 60s, they played the Cavern Club. He ended up backing Chuck Berry. Dang! I visited that Club the year before!
If you are interested in how opportunity knocks and how you have to sacrifice and open doors to get there this is a pretty good example, especially coming from a small town market in the Pacific Northwest. I thought best to let Barry tell you himself:

(Other good friends of my teenage days and some still today are on the same website, but that’s a whole different story). I hope you enjoy the read. :D

Well let's see, I just got the dogs squared up for a while. And now I'm watching the rain come down.

I just came back from a walk, did some grocery shopping, and had a snack of Danish Blue Cheese and Golden Delicious apples, and now a cup of coffee. I need to put together this wardrobe thingy I got from Walmart.com, which is always a fun thing to mess with. :P Actually, I already put together another one a week ago, so I know how the thing fits together. At least it's not Ikea.

The apple and cheese combo sounds delicious, Paul. Too bad the wardrobe isn’t IKEA. You won’t have the luxury of redoing mismatched holes, decifering instructions, and having left over pieces that you can use on your next project, and you’ll probably be disappointed that the fun will have ended in record time. :P

Ikea would piss off Jesus into a homicidal rage. :P

This thing is pretty simple, with no screws or tools needed. It has these metal tubes that fit into this plastic elbow fixtures, and it has nylon pieces that fold into drawers and a shelve that goes across to hold them in place. There's this zippered tent like thing that goes over the whole thing to keep the dust out, or whatever. It also keeps everything tight together. That's the only thing that I had my girlfriend help me put on, since the thing is 72" tall and you have to slip it over and work it down the frame.
