Did some grocery shopping earlier, now I'm getting ready to go for a walk and cook dinner when I get back. I'm going try and get some bass time in, too.

Did some jamming on the hollow-body bass and the usual walk. We did a longer one because we stopped and got a gelato from a place called Cold Fusion, which isn't exactly diet food. :P I think it blows the doors off of regular ice cream, though.

We have an Italian mini mall a few blocks away and orange gelato for me and peanut butter and chocolate gelato for Mrs, FSB is a regular around here, but it's all pretty good. That's worth a walk huh, Paul? :D

Yes, it is. I had the peanut butter with the peanut butter cups in it, and dark chocolate with sea salt, the last time. They have sorbet there that looks pretty good, too. I might try some of that next time, I'm not sure.
Well, that all sounds mighty good to me, Paul. I'll have to tell them in my area where they make it right there and change flavours regularly, usually providing around a dozen fresh flavours, tubs and prepacked tubs. Incidentally, the orange flavour is the creamy version and it also goes good with chocolate. I'll think of ya the next time I go. :D

Orange and chocolate sounds like a great combination. Wasn't there some sort of chocolate covered orange ball candy? I'm not sure if it's Cadbury, or who makes it. I remember seeing something like that in the store a long time ago, but I never tried one.

Month 12 of my diet. I lost a total of 4 pounds, for a total of 91 pounds. I lost 1 1/2" of my gut, for a total of 14" total, and 1" off my chest, for a total of 7" total. Everything else is the same as before, which is a little frustrating, but I'll keep trying. I will say that I can fit into an XL shirt and L boxers, so that's something at least.

That is fantastic news, Paul. I am very happy for you. It must be very satisfying to fit into those smaller sizes. Outstanding accomplishment! :D

I put off finishing my new music CD so I could get my abandoned insane asylum photo essay book out!

If you want to see some photo galleries from the Forest Haven Asylum and read my essay on the history of the US asylum system and the inefficient and misguided political and social evolution of care for the mentally ill in this country, check out my link (https://markhahnphotography.wordpress.com/2017/07/30/new-book-announcement-from-the-inside-the-forest-haven-asylum-available-now/)! It's a serious topic.

Should get my new CD out soon too!

Best all!

I didn't finish reading your essay yet but I will. You are a fine writer/photographer, Mark. I'll be looking at your book as well. :)

From The Inside - Terrific piece of photo/journalism, Mark.

Canada has similarities; however, our government run penal institutions and medical support are different and yet still flawed. Our cities and towns have lost souls along with violent ignored offenders on the street and behind walls; however, when comparing countries population wise, there are visible impact differences that bear witness. I don't believe any country has found a complete solution so far. Unfortunately, some solutions are worse than the problem, and you have documented many of those well.

I found your post an interesting read as my father told me that in the 1920s he and his friends had a daily walk by such a facility on the way to his school where a growly mentally challenged patient would shout obscenities at the kids, and as my Dad would tell it, the man would shake his hands on the window bars, look at them menacingly and shout, "When I get out of here, I'll get you kids!" I can't say if the kids taunted him as kids do, but I was told they feared the man and ran away often.

Today, mental illness is in the news everywhere with dimensia taking a top spot of topics to be discussed along with the aging and housing of baby boomers. I personally have seen Seniors' care homes with both wonderful and inadequate support for mental illness. Any conversation that ignites a better solution is welcome.

Your book is a wonderful contribution and timely my friend. I have no doubt it will be a success. All the best, Mark.

You are right, Paul, about the orange chocolate ball candy. If you find it you will find a real treat. I believe there is more than one brand, but for years I've only seen and had one kind. Terry's. I believe Terry's is the original, and I'm sure it's available pretty much worldwide as the crow flies. The Internet has it too. It's a favourite tradition in this house from time to time as it's available but not everywhere. I don't know how available it is in the States, but I think it can be found. Department stores sometimes carry it as well. It's popularity is well known. Orange chocolate is one of life's great pleasures. IMHO.

As Mikey would say, "Try it you'll like it".

Works best from fridge to tummy. Yummy. :D

Awesome accomplishment, Paul. Well done!

That said, I have a disclaimer that says, "Any chocolate or gelato addiction is at one's own risk, and I accept no responsibility". There's no hope for me, however.

Is that what you use when you take your gear pics, or just a smartphone?

That's the one that I've seen. I'm not sure, but I don't remember if I've ever actually tried one, or not. My girlfriend has reminded me of things like that from time to time, especially if I only had it once, and/or was drunk when I did. :P I can remember people's birthdays, including people I haven't seen in years, but I'll often draw a blank on what I had for dinner 3 days ago, much less 10 years, unless it was something that will really stick in my brain for a long time.

Thanks. 8)

I had some tonight. This time it was some sort of cinnamon flavor and some sort of Madagascar vanilla flavor. They had a cotton candy flavor, which was tempting, because it was blue (blue food! :P) and one named after Elvis, because it was peanut butter and banana. That one should be deep-fried in a stick of butter, though. :P

Hey, Paul. If you had tried that chocolate orange my guess is that you wouldn't have forgotten it. Me and my buddy both have an affinity for it. YMMV.
