Have some lobster for me, Mike. I was raised on that stuff where lobster burgers were cheaper than the beef kind. Enjoy the trip.

Today I'll put some tunes on and look at some old coins that I remember when they were new.

I was jamming on my violin hollow-body bass and checking the usual internet related assortment of stuff. I'm going to listen to some music next.

I remember my Dad talking about how people were poor they ate seafood. Times have certainly changed with that, that's for sure.

You've got that right, Paul. It's an irritant for those who grew up with seafood gracing their tables at home weekly like lobster, crab, salmon, and halibut in particular. Imagine a similar scenario with chicken or burgers or . . . Global marketing has changed the game. Not so much for the fisherman though. I recently noticed lower lobster prices paid to fisherman were not passed on in the market! Now we have expensive seafood, and what there is available is nothing compared to what goes overseas. Not living on a coastline reduces the choices even more than ever.

What we are often left with is farm fish, and lesser fish at prices where we would have expected better native seafood to be sold. We're presented with misleading names and labels. Things like Pacific shrimp can be a type not a location. Those Pacific crustaceans could be land locked. The same goes for Atlantic salmon. Pollock is disguised as crab or lobster. Cookie cutter rays or skate have reportedly been fraudulently sold as scallops. Salmon are, on most menus, species not specifically identified in restaurants. No problem having beef types promoted. Inferior lobster could be served with your surf and turf. I always ask first and, although I'm willing to have a variety of lobster, I'll know what I'm paying for, and they'll know too. :D
There's more, but I'll leave it at that. It's one reason why I tell Mrs. FSB that we'll indulge in a variety of decent seafood while it's still available. Those days, along with pollution and mismanagement of resources, I'm sorry to say is coming to a drawn out conclusion. Someday our seafood may be lab created and served in a tube. Not to worry. It will come at a premium gourmet price. :P
Meanwhile, the freezer has haddock, wild salmon, Arctic char, wild shrimp, and recently cod. I know it ain't cheap; but, it beats the mercury in the rivers and lakes in the hood. I don't like glowing in the night. That's why my fishing gear is semi-retired.
All is not lost, however. The province has 100,000 lakes and something like 90,000 have yet to be named. Besides . . . I have to use all my seafood recipes.

Hey! It's summer. What good is that without shrimp on the Barbie?

We have pretty good fishing around here. Usually at night, you can hear the fish jumping by the pier we walk on all of the time. I've never noticed that during the day. That's why I'd go fishing at night, if I were to go. Besides, it's usually cooler at night during the summer, unless you have a lot of humidity. We don't usually have to worry about that until July going into August, though. It's still been pretty cool around here, although it was hot for a couple of day this past week. Not Florida hot, but almost hot enough to put the AC in the window, if it wasn't going to cool off like it did.

That sounds like a good fishing spot. Last time I fished at night, from a concrete breakwater jetty, I pulled up a 5 foot approximate Pacific (dogfish) shark. Although not afraid, it was difficult to see until I had it close enough to cut the line. I've since moved far away - too many sharks. JK.

As usual, in the morning I log in to Wikipedia and read the list of recent deaths. If I don't find my name there, I go put on a pot of coffee.

Just found out tonight that our drummer that we had playing for us was lying about himself the whole time about a few things that he claimed he was or did, so he's out of here. Come to find out he hasn't been playing as long as he claimed he was, and he was never Vernon Reid's guitar tech, which he also claimed he did. There were a few other things that I won't bother to get into here, but that's that. My girlfriend had a gut feeling about him for awhile and to be honest, I wasn't too sure, either. So it's back to us again, but no matter, we have things in the works, anyway.

Ouch! That sux.

It's too bad we get weary searching for the truth; but, when we find it we can relax.

Hope you and your girlfriend can too, Paul.

Well, better find out and deal with it now, then have some gigs lined up and be on the road and deal with any BS. Right now, we're working on a new EP and a side project, so that was something that wasn't lined up at the moment, anyway.
