Just got home from a great evening and meeting at a clinic with Grammy winner Wayne Johnson - guitarist for Manhattan Transfer, Bette Midler, Rickie Lee Jones, Elton John, and more. Man that cat can play.

I also scored a free t-shirt :D

Sitting back on this nice Sat. morning listening to my daughter, and one of her friends in the kitchen laughing, and having a good time with breakfast.

Yes, Paul. The clinic with Wayne was very relaxed and fun joking throughout. We got a good look at the pedal board and hung around after the clinic. Wayne had just gone over to a Lehle A/B switch box that he highly praised for numerous reasons after trying others, and Eventide provided some awesome effects to be brief. Fender acoustic and electric amps were used along with PAs.

Went for a walk and did some grocery shopping before the rain serious came down around here. I'm going to get a chicken curry from the Chinese restaurant for dinner in a bit here, too.

I've been seriously GASing for this bass lately: http://www.epiphone.com/News/Features/2 ... s-Outfit-h :P I know I've had GAS for a few basses, but there's a lot of features that are suitable for my sound and playing style, plus it's priced more in my range that I could eventually afford to get one without winning the lotto first. It's not a short scale, so strings wouldn't be a pain in the arse to get, either.

Couldn't sleep decided to read up on the forums.
Sounds like a good clinic, FSB. Lots of talent on hand. Hadn't seen mention of RLJ's name in a while, I appreciate her unique voice/playing style.
Guess I'll make coffee and wait for the races to come on while listening to some ACL on M TV.

I always feel better after a clinic teaches me what I don't know. RLJ is a talented artist with a storied career. She is credited with pop singers taking to doing jazz cover songs, and she is well known for reinventing a song when she isn't writing her own. I do have a few of her albums, including 10 inch EP.

Today would be a good day to listen to some vinyl. On the other hand, any day would be good for that. IMHO.

Went for a walk, then called my mother for Mother's Day and we made seafood and pasta for dinner. I also had to waste a few ants that were in the kitchen and put down some ant baits. I guess because of the flooding rain we had, that was bringing them in the house somehow. We had this problem about a year or two ago when similar circumstance happened. Now, I'm catching up with the forum and listening to some Jefferson Airplane.

Sorry to hear about the ant problem, Paul. I may be able to help.

I too called my Mom today and made pasta for Mrs. FSB minus the seafood (which sounds yummy).

When I and my brother were younger my father would return from Japan with treats. Some were cool and others were just weird but interesting. One particular day a box of chocolates without English details were left open on the coffee table. As soon as the coast was clear of Dad we took up the opportunity and indulged. He came back with a big smile and another box of chocolates asking, " How would you guys like some chocolate covered honey bees?" We replied. "No, thanks. Why would we want to do that?" He laughingly said, "Well, I thought since you enjoyed eating the chocolate ants you'd like to try these bees."
So, you might want to dip them in chocolate. A little sugar syrup or honey dipped cotton balls dipped into Borax also worked for me outside to kill the colony in the ant hill.

Oh, one other thing. The chocalte bees were even better than the chocolate ants. When we bit into them it was like a caramel bar only it oozed honey. :P
FSB

I sincerely hope the flooding wasn't too bad.

I've heard about those ants, but never tried them. I've also seen recipes for stir fried grass hoppers, which actually looks pretty good. You have to remember to remove the wings, legs, and head first, or you can buy them already prepped. I figure they couldn't be any worse than balut, which is an egg with a duck embryo in it, which is like a delicacy with the Lao, whom I was friends with and tried once. I didn't like it at all. I thought it was too sulfuric tasting, to put it mildly.

We live up on a hill, so we don't have to much issue with flooding, fortunately.

Glad to hear you are not under water like some of the country both sides of the border are, Paul.

Not sure if the balut egg would be accepted by my palate. Points to you for the bravery. I gave up frog's legs after a close friend (French Canadian) talked me into eating them. I had nightmares about frogs and reptiles afterwards. That was the last time for me.
I once had a Chinese manager who's father owned a Chinese restaurant. His dad took a liking to me for some reason and I was told that his dad was going to make me authentic (not the commercial different variety) Birds Nest soup with regurgitated saliva collected from birds nesting in cliffs in China. You likely know about it. I had seen a documentary, and knew about the soup ingredients before having the opportunity. It is rare and uber expensive. Some believe that a Chinese cook is best rated by his or her soup.

Needless to say I declined the offer expressing my thanks. Sad to say I hurt his father's feeling because it was considered a big cultural honour to have accepted.
There is a Chinese saying that has been borrowed by other cultures. It basically says:
A first rate soup is better than a second rate painting.

I'm guessing, even though most dishes are adopted, there must be food on this side of the pond that is strange to others.

I'm about to build up an appetite by cutting the lawn first time this year. :D

Going upstairs to continue putting together a new guitar workbench. I've had it for some time but always found something else to do so I could put it off. My goal is to finish it this week and maybe buy a new stool or chair or both. :)

Sounds like a gr8 idea. Marky. Another way to give your guitar some love. :D

At the moment I'm waiting for Mrs. FSB's Tex Mex cheese omelette. We take turns making different kinds, but I never give up my turn to eat them. :P
