I have a best friend who is the same age as I am. He is as stubborn as I am, and that comes with age believing that all or most things are possible as they were when we were younger.

Well, this week he prepped a good length of sidewalk ready for a concrete pour. It saved him money, but the hard labour almost cost him his life with a surprise heart attack.

So tonight we spent time supporting his wife and cheering her up because, fortunately, they caught it in time, and he'll, thankfully, be okay.

Heart attacks can happen at any age, but there are options. Sharing the workload is one of them. At the very least, pace the job. Don't be a casualty. Take care of yourselves.

Sorry to read of your best friend's heart attack. It must have been very scary for all but, as you wrote, thankfully he'll be okay. I am sending prayers his way.
I am enjoying a wonderfully beautiful morning with cool temperatures, a light breeze and that fresh smell following rain in the air. My dogs a laying on the patio just soaking it all in too. Life is good and every moment is a Blessing.

Too bad to hear about your friend. That's a surprise too many people are dealt with. When I was younger, a favorite uncle of mine had an earlier heart attack. He was driving home from work one day, and felt another coming on. This was prior to cell phones, etc. Earl pulled off the road, put the car in park, and died a short time after. Knowing him, he did this so he wouldn't loose control of the car, and hit someone, or another car.

Thanks, for your kind concerns Marky, and Glenn. Sometimes, it's a challenge having to be the one of reason to calm and cheer up others; but, in the past year I've earned my stripes.

Sad about your Uncle Earl, Glenn. He was a smart and thoughtful man pulling off the road as he did. I know this because, as a teenager picked up by the local cops to the scene of an accident where cars embarked from a ferry, my mother was almost killed in a head on collision in my father's '64 Plymouth Fury when it was struck by a '47 Chevy that crossed the center line, and the Plymouth's rear was creamed by a Grey Hound bus on the highway carrying my brother and his hockey team coming back from Portland, Oregon to Victoria, B.C. Thankfully, they were in that full size finmobile. She is fine and 94 today, but has a faint hairline scar from ear to ear where she hit the metal dashboard in those days. The old man who drove the Chev' had no licence, no insurance, and after the judge apologized that Canada's laws were not as comprehensive for claims as that of the U.S., a medical burden continued with the family for years. So I salute your uncle, Glenn.

Cellphones have saved a lot of lives. Medical methods, medications, and lifestyle have improved as well. It's always the unexpected, unprepared, or circumstances that throw a screw into the works. But, all in all we are pretty lucky compared to those who came before us. At least now, with a little luck, we have a fighting chance.

Share the best day ever, and look foward to even better ones to come.

FSB

It's beautiful day in the neighbourhood. Maybe, I'll look at some paint chips to redo the firebowl I repaired. :D

How's the rib cave doing, Glenn?

Not on the health, medical issues here, but I've had so many younger players ask me if I had photos of many of my back stage, and sessions meetings I had in the 60's, and early 70's. I try to get them to understand, in the 60's we didn't have smartphones, with cameras onboard. I didn't go around with a Kodak Instamatic 104, with a Flash Cube. Hell, Zip Codes didn't come out until 1962-1963. Paper towels were just starting to come out a little after that, if I remember correctly.
The one thing at least Earl recognized, and knew what he had coming on him, and to react to it. Too many people try to diss miss a myocardial infarction, as a severe attack of heartburn. Not that uncommon I'm told. The Paramedics that came to help me, thought I had Kidney Stones, from the description of the pain, and location. Some medical issues cross the lines from one thing to another.

My friend Bob got that very warning shrugging it off at first, but a second round got him to where he knew to immediately go to the hospital, and today he is doing well. :D
On the lighter side:
I enjoyed your reminder, Glenn, of the things taken for granted today that were not always here. I always get, "How come you didn't get a selfie (or photo) of so and so?" Probably, because I didn't carry my camera bag everywhere and my $100, 000 camera at my side needed a whole crew to record it.
Prior to that I remember live reel to reel (cassette hadn't been invented yet) backing tracks with sound effects like dragsters, motorcycles, and thunder being played over the amp or PA (if you had it). :P
Now you need an engineering degree. Drums you plug in? No cord on the electric guitar? Keyboard midi? Sampling and modeling? Tablet control? Downloads/Uploads? A return to vinyl? How did we get from there to here?

But, ain't it sweet when it works? :D

Going to go do some shopping and a walk. My girlfriend's next EP is almost ready to be mastered and the released. We're just waited for the drummer to put down tracks for one song that I'm playing on with John Ashton, former member of the Psychedelic Furs. We played the song last year when we did that radio show that was filmed with him, along with two other tracks that were on the EP that was put out back then. There's still other songs in the works, as well as live shows in planning. I'm glad the drummer worked out after all, otherwise we would have just done it with the two of us.

So glad for you and your girlfriend, Paul. Nice to see the hard work is paying off on both accounts. Good that the drummer issue was resolved when it was needed.

Best.

Just saw a young construction worker come into Emergency after having had 500 lbs. of something dropped on his finger(s). He's pretty vocal about it. Ouch!

I'm here because Mrs. FSB balked at letting me know she thought she might have indigestion until she wasn't feeling well, and had chest and back issues that, thankfully, have subsided. So now it's sit and wait for hours waiting for test results and prognosis. After the nurse gave her the whatnot about not waiting for hours for a checkout I may have an easier time convincing her of the same. She's feeling better and, considering she is otherwise healthy, I'm sure she'll be fine. Time to spoil her today.

Krazy that a similar event here was just discussed in this thread. She isn't even aware of it. I'm not a hypochondriac. Really. It just seems to be another one of those days. I used to think it odd that older folk talk about health issues all the time. Now I know why. I guess that's why there's seven days in the week. So that there is more to choose another topic. :P Kudos to all those in the medical field.

Enjoy the Jello. Mr. Nylon. I know you will.

After a long day in the ER with Mrs. FSB, I'm delighted to say her painful experience was a false alarm this time. :D So, I'm about to celebrate with a home made butter tart. :P
