I'm thinking about maybe the wife, and myself give the dogs a quick walk, then take two Motrin when I get back.

Listening to some Led Zeppelin and getting ready to call it a day.

I'm sitting back after a nice breakfast Mrs. Nylon made, and watching it rain, really hard. Image

This place is very old, with a lot of the houses from the 1700's and we go by a graveyard with people who died in 1690 on them, that I could make out the dates on. Some of the streets are narrow, probably because they were built in the time of the horse and buggy days. It's a strange place when you look at it from a modern context, but that's what makes it interesting, I think.

That is so cool. 1690, man that's so long ago. Do you ever stand in one spot and look around and wonder about all the things that must have happened in the very spot you are standing? All the people walking by and how they looked and spoke. So very different than today. It's wonderful for you to live in an area so rich with history and to have so many of those 1700's buildings still standing... amazing.
Five miles is a nice long walk. Good for you. I've read that walking has the same benefit as jogging the same distance. Nice healthy thing to do. :D

That is Fantastic, Paul. When my father got transferred to Nova Scotia from B.C. I was 14 years old and found myself awash with similar historical surroundings like you have now. I was never keen of grave sites, but explorers, pirates, military leaders, rumrunners, and a slew of other interesting characters perked my interest, and markers are sometimes found in the strangest places. As long as one doesn't find their name, things are good. You likely have more older houses as many towns in N.S. did not grow much. I bring this up because living in such a place as you are talking of (and Marky is right that it is cool) gave me some of the best times and memories regardless of age. I wish you the same, Paul. Walking in a concrete jungle is just more of the same that can be had from any parking lot IMHO. Take in all there is to enjoy, and have a prosperous journey. :D
If you are a history buff you might enjoy learning of the 1605 settlement that I mentioned with several American connections. (see History - American Revolution and Loyalists):

Went to the new music store official opening. Finally the city has choices like in the big towns. I found out that the store now has the largest curved guitar display in North America. 700+ guitars reportedly!
Spun a wheel, won a manufacturer's t-shirt, and walked out to a hot dog with a cutaway acoustic (same brand as the t-shirt, and no I did not choose it because of the shirt). I first tried a guitar (rhymes with sailor), but, as good as it was, I wanted a cutaway. Lo and behold one and only one of the same model as a cutaway was new in a box. Yes! But, would this version sound as good, and did it have the same appearance and vibe? This one was even better, and it was less than a hundred over budget. It called out to me, was a new model with a solid spruce top, layered walnut back and sides, had a sweet unplugged and electronic sound, was shipped with a low setup of included 12 gauge Elixirs, had a narrow neck for my troublesome hand, allows me to easily reach the higher frets, and adds a great quality gig bag all for what amounted to an American price in this northern loonie tunes country.

I would have been happy with the Fender, but that was the deal for today. Besides, I had to leave something good for the other shoppers. :D
The guitar got the wife approval. So, another guitar found a welcoming home. I now have a better patio guitar for the summer, and the practice will transfer over to the Strat. 8) Maybe the entry form I added to the music store's tumbling drum will win me one of the many guitars or amps being drawn for. That would be nice; but, I'm good to go.

Life has ups and downs. Woke up to big snow flakes falling down into my spring cleaned yard. After cleaning off the pile of snow from the car, and driving while it continued to fall, I made it to and from the store. The snow is gone (for now) and music is in the air. Today is good and a natural high.
Happy Earth Day!

Congratulations and happy NGD! It sounds like you diligently found the perfect guitar for you and it doesn't get much better than that. :D I wish you many happy hours of patio playing!
A 700+ guitar display??? Wow, that must be a beautiful sight.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend. I'm sure you will. :)

Thank you, Marky. It's been long time since I played an acoustic. At my age and being retired I have limitations. But, having plenty of high end acoustics at my reach but outside of my wallet, I drooled at the cosmetics and sounds. Fortunately, I've owned all mahogany, all maple, spruce and rosewood, and I realize that having had all wood doesn't ensure that it always translates to great sound. There are composites, fibreglass, carbon, laminates, torrified, and other guitars that can compete against each other. I think most of us can appreciate the exotic look though. Funny thing is a good looking guitar can lose out on great sound on those odd occasions. Price will get you more options, but I did get lucky overall, and for recording - the electronics are the same as in the one that costs 7 times the amount. Besides, I don't play well enough to own some of those pricey beauties, although they would look great on the wall. :D
As for the 700+ guitars those were just the electrics. Another room held their top electrics and a separate two rooms included a large array of acoustics and a few hollow body electrics.

I played and sang a little last night in the LR. Mrs. FSB was a happy camper. Today I will try out the amp, a TC Helicon pedal for voice and guitar, and a mixer, and later directly to a Focusrite interface. Should be interesting.

Have a super day, Marky.

Resting, been up and down the ladder all day working on my A/C. Replaced the main contact box and removed a time-relay to help troubleshoot. Got the problem down to the 24volt supply inside the house, yup a bad transformer go figure, didn't even know it had one of them. My brother's gonna send a replacement via UPS on Monday. It should be a quick swap, four wires and two screws (LOL). Its not that bad, but they could of put it in an easier location. An A/C tech would have charged me several hundred to do the work, luckily my brother has a few years experience and has access to replacement parts.

Jamming on the bass a bit before I go for a walk.

Nice work. I take it your A/C is up on your roof like many are here in AZ. It feels good to do the job yourself and save some money to boot. :)

Yes, yes and yes-above the garage. Hopefully the transformer replacement fixes the problem and I have a working unit again. If not, the next level of work will require a compressor replacement, so not out of the woods just yet. Definitely worth the attempt money wise though(about $50 parts), a new outside unit would not be cheap or a DIY.

I hope it doesn't need a new compressor but, if it does, you gave it your best shot. Good luck!
