Whoa Cowboy! How's the repair doing on you Violin bass? I sure hope it's nothing serious. Especially for as long as you wanted to get a hollow body bass.

Oh, I'm waiting to we get together with our drummer and he said he can fix my stuff, since he's good at electronics (for the basses with the shorts) and was also Vernon Reid's guitar tech. He set up guitars as a gig, so he'd do a better job with that than I could. I never had any sort of hollow-body instrument before, so I thought it would be best to have someone that did that professionally to fix that than risk me screwing something up, especially when they offered in the first place without me even asking about it. We should be getting together pretty soon. We have a lot of stuff to get going, and need to get that ball rolling.

Waiting for the sun to set a bit so I can go for my walk. The UV index is high today and I don't feel like layering on sunscreen.

Researching acoustics, and getting ready for the Grand Opening Day at a major music store's new and bigger location where I can spend time and money.

Maybe, I'll get lucky with the sales. On the other hand, the store was just down the street from home, and now I have to travel further to have GAS.

It's about time for some Raspberry Jello to go with that Canned Heat, "Fried Hockey Boogie".

Coming back to normal life. Been laid up with flu and sinus infection but I'm getting my strength back. I've enjoyed all your posts but haven't felt up to posting. Sounds like everyone is doing great and that's fantastic. :D Have fun!

There are cougars (mountain lions down here), javelina, deer, elk, coyotes, rattle snakes, scorpions, tarantula, and all sorts of desert critters. We've had a few rattle snakes in our yard and scorpions in the house.

You is one tough critter to deal with that at home, Marky. How do you keep from getting bit? Isn't breeding a problem?

Those coastal logging roads must have been a lot of fun, especially when wet. YeeHaa!

Yup! Going down dry unmarked roads is one thing. Coming back on a soaken dirt road now muddy is another. Definitely not for your grocery store SUV.

Had to look up javelina. Holey Smoley! I spent a few years on a farm with pigs; but, these critters (they are not pigs) look to have a meaner set of choppers.
FSB

More people are killed by pigs than sharks in a given year.

Hi FSB - It's not all that dangerous around here. You get used to paying attention to what's around you depending on where you are. Like Arjay said, tarantellas aren't really dangerous, just kinda creepy if they surprise you. I remember doing a Spring cleaning outside and was reaching into the base of a bush to clean out dead leaves and a tarantella came out on the back of my hand. Freaked me out. When I jumped, I flung it about 20 feet away but no harm done. I always wear leather work gloves when doing that kind of work. The only really bad scorpion we have is the bark scorpion and that's the last one that was inside our house. It was only about 2 feet inside the patio slider door so it must have come in with the dogs. I'm really glad my son saw it before the dogs did. It's the only scorpion around here that has a fatal sting. Most of them are more like bad bee stings. Yes breeding can be a real problem. Once established, they are tough to get rid of. Thankfully we never had that problem but I know people that have. Man is more of a threat to javelinas than they are to us. They get shot a lot around here. They are very dangerous to dogs. A dog is no match for a big javelina. Rattle snakes are a different story. As you know, they are deadly and can spring as far as they are long. I've only had a few encounters with them and only one was dangerous, not to me but my dogs. I felt it was about to strike so, unfortunately, I had to shoot it. I really, really didn't want to but I did.
Life is really good here. It's starting to warm up and even though it may be 110 or more some days, it's not bad if you are in the shade.
Life is good, Stay tuned. At least that's what my tee-shirt reads. :D
Peace

Going to go for my walk earlier, since it's suppose to rain, then I'm going to clean some radishes when we get back to make some crudites with orange bell peppers and cucumbers. It sounds all so healthy until you poor on the blue cheese dressing. :P

Good to know that you're on the mend from the flu, Marky.

Thanks, for explaining the critter issues in your neighbourhood. I used to have arachnophobia in a big way. I can't explain why that was, but it was real. I got over it when I moved, and we discovered that our constant flow of fearless hind leg standing inch long Wolf Spiders were coming from a nest on the roof of the apartment which included other spider families in our attached sunroom. After freaking out, being of little use to Mrs. FSB, I finally manned up and discovered our little Black Widow and Brown Recluse were more of a threat. I was either going to be cured or I was going to go bonkers over it. Now I can deal with them, but surprises are never fun as you pointed out, Marky.

For those scorpions, I feel for you guys and gals that have that pest. My uncle did desert duty for the UN as a buffer between Israel and Egypt before the war. He said at camp they always stored their boots upside down to prevent scorpions from invading. Recently, a scorpion fell from an overhead bunk and it landed on a passenger's head on a domestic flight!

As for rattlers, long ago I heard that cowhands could use a horsehair rope around their sleeping perimeter to add some prevention from a snake attack. Don't know about that as I never had the occasion to put that into practice. :P YMMV.

FSB
In the end: It's sort of like knowing there's whole oceans full of dangers, and people cautiously swim in those waters everyday.
Went and got supplies today to fix divots in the sidewalk from an over zealous snow shovel.
