Rick had a massive stroke (age 58) and was pronounced brain dead when they got
him to the hospital. His family obliged his wishes to not keep him on life support.
He was a massive talent and all around great guy...he will be missed by many.

Sorry for your loss, Mike. :(

Sorry to hear the loss of your friend, Mike. Stroke is one of those silent demons that grabs you when least expected. Losing a friend is never easy; but, having known one and sharing good times is precious. I'm sure Rick was one of those friends. Condolences.

In Churchill. Manitoba, polar bear capital of the world on the shores of Hudson Bay, this week they got a storm that halted train travel, and left snow drifts 65 feet high! Their worst storm in 50 years (and they get doozies). Seems the winds of change are in the air. I wouldn't want to shovel out and poke a buried bear in the nose.

Hope you don't get it too bad, and make sure you have some woolies, and a good toque, Paul. Me? Even though it's melting with intermittent freezing temperatures, I've got my snow boots and my lawn mower at the ready.

Well, it now looks like it's not going to be so bad. They cancelled any blizzard warning and we may just get up to 6 inches of snow. The only real threat is we could get 40 to 50 MPH wind gusts, which could knock out power lines. That's always fun. :P

Well, I finally got my flats to put on the hollow-body violin bass. I realized what a total pain in the arse the bridge is when you try to put the string on, since it doesn't have the string-through holes like you do on a Fender bridge. You have to set it in some slot somehow and hope it hooks in place. Not an easy thing to do when you don't have skinny little fingers to get underneath the bridge. :P It sounds pretty good, though. Now I have my hollow-body sound.

Sounds good to me. Paul. Crank it up bro' so I can have a listen. :P
Right now I'm getting things ready for a Spring yard sale. That should take a couple of months.

We still have leftovers from a move, and estate leftovers. Right now I'm going through some cookbooks that my buddy (mother-in-law) cherished, and she wanted me to have the best and pass on the rest accordingly. A lot of family and original recipes to sort out, and some classic collectable stuff that doesn't hit the Net. Besides, splattering sauces and gravies on the iPad doesn't add to the experience like dirty pages. My theory is the dirtier the page the better the recipe. I'm passing the baking recipes to Mrs. FSB with the hope she'll jump on board, and I'm using every excuse I can to get her to bake. Ain't working. If I get finished with estate stuff, I'll work on clearing out my hobbies and hoarding.

You can use whatever money you make towards guitars and amps, because you can never have enough of those, and you'll have the extra space for them. :P

Just got back from an extensive walk. We decided to go out earlier to get it done before all of the crappy weather hits us. It's a shame, because it was actually nice out and not as cold as it has been the last couple of days. I think we'll be getting more rain than anything, mixed with some snow. I did notice the winds picking up on the way.

Mike - sorry to read about your loss. Along the same line, Rev. Martin Swanson, my life-long friend is in hospice. Please send good vibes his way. (this is why I have been away for a while)

As far as winter goes, I'm having a great day with an early Spring cleaning.

How's everyone making out with the storm in the Northeast?

Stay safe
FSB

In a power outage that old acoustic might just do the trick. :D

My son and I just got home from a nice relaxing drive in the desert. It's beautiful this time of year. Soon it will be nap time. :)

Just came back from a 4 mile walk and shopping. Going to chill out for awhile then go get some Chinese takeaway. Maybe I'll put some time in on the hollow-body. I'm digging the new flats on it. That will be something when they really break in. It does make a difference on that bass.

Here's an idea, Paul. You should go all out. Get a crewcut, buy some new flat shoes, flatter some flatland farm girl selling flatbread, lead on a commissioned salesman and then tell him you're flat broke when it's a lie, return to the flat, and . . . "Wait a doggone minute! This whole thing is flat out ridiculous"!

Wish my tummy was flat like in my 20s Enjoy those flats. :D
